Fantastic gesture...
Fantastic gesture...
I dislike them with a passion, but fair play to Man Utd for not only refunding the ticket price for the game tonight, but also giving all fans who purchased a ticket £350 for potentially cancelled travel and accommodation.

Wow - that is impressive.
I’m guessing if games are behind closed doors that they will be obliged to refund tickets ?
But they definitely don’t have to compensate for travel costs so that I’d a great gesture and one you would hope other premier league teams would follow.

Generous.

No argument there. I was just suggesting that they can afford the refund.claretonthecoast1882 wrote: ↑Thu Mar 12, 2020 2:41 pmAnd the refund might be best part of a weeks wage of each fan

Re: Fantastic gesture...
They can afford it as in they just add it to their debt of nearly a billion ?
Whereas we could actually afford it without going into debt !

Is it just me who thinks we shouldn't be refunding Utd's supporters travel costs?

Wow.
Either foolhardy or very clever marketing. They were fast off the mark with this.
Clearly they have thought about it before today.
I wonder if other clubs have thought about it and said no?
Stuff the fans, the self-employed etc.
Quite a precedent being set here.

For a club that needs to count every penny that is more than generous. I hope nobody takes it up.

Re: Accy Stanley
Andy Holt has been very vocal about the need to suspend - he is always looking at the long game as well getting his staff to automatically think "what is the right thing to do?" rather than how will we cope - it is why he is held up as the example by virtually all fans at that level

Re: Accy Stanley
It would be nice to see Premier League clubs who are doing ok looking after these clubs, as well as clubs further down the ladder, over the coming months.
How I’m not sure but there are certainly tough times ahead for a lot of clubs.

I agree. But even some Premier League clubs might struggle if they don't get what they had anticipated from this season's money.Bordeauxclaret wrote: ↑Fri Mar 13, 2020 1:47 pmIt would be nice to see Premier League clubs who are doing ok looking after these clubs, as well as clubs further down the ladder, over the coming months.

for most clubs they will be covered by the small print - there has been plenty on this in the last week in the media2 Bee Holed wrote: ↑Fri Mar 13, 2020 1:49 pmOK. From the thread about Fantastic Gesture.

Many of the premier league clubs dont even look after their own fans, not sure they'd be in a hurry to help other clubs and their fans.Bordeauxclaret wrote: ↑Fri Mar 13, 2020 1:47 pmIt would be nice to see Premier League clubs who are doing ok looking after these clubs, as well as clubs further down the ladder, over the coming months.

Greed has set in far too deep at some clubs I'm afraid.

and just how many Premier League clubs are doing ok - over 70% are running operating losses before this
Do you suppose Sky/BT and the rights holders across the world are going to pay for a product that is not available for distribution
Do you suppose sponsors/advertisers are going to pay for sponsorships/billboards that are not seen on TV's across the world
and while it may appear PL clubs have a lot of cash - https://twitter.com/KieranMaguire/statu ... 37/photo/1 this was at their last published accounts not now after a transfer window and before new season ticket sales have been collected - Also Man United have since published data with half their amount in it
and there is also this to think about from the Magic Money Tree thread today

Indeed. Very uncertain times ahead all round. How things end up in six months/ a year is anyone’s guess.2 Bee Holed wrote: ↑Fri Mar 13, 2020 1:51 pmI agree. But even some Premier League clubs might struggle if they don't get what they had anticipated from this season's money.
Perhaps football will be the least of our priorities.
