it has rained heavily throughout the night . We were threatened by unprecedented floods . Port Louis having chains of mountains along its three sides and one side facing the sea . Although there are large canals to divert the rain water ,that was not enough . Within one and a half hours the water rushed with great speed overtook all the roads and they appeared asrivers . many cars and other vehicles were carried away .All stores and offices had to be hastily closed to avoid human drowings .it is a great natural calamity .
It was a flash flood . We have to bear the caprices of Dame Nature .You may have a view on You Tube.

I have fond memories of Port Louis but from quite a long time ago. (1973)
We loaded raw, bulk sugar in a wonderful island paradise and discharged it in Greenock on the Clyde, which is not an island paradise for sure

Floods are dangerous.

Speedy recovery to all affected.

So far no lives have been lost .They are secured . People are asked to stay at home as the roads may be too slippery .

Really sorry to read about the flooding problems, dave, and I hope that everyone stays safe and that things will return to 'normal' very quickly.
