Are you doing anything different.....
Are you doing anything different.....
...in light of Corona virus? Normally i would be off to my local on a Friday night, but they are going to have to do without my contribution this week. Wondering if I should watch the local non league team tomorrow or give that a miss also.
How are you changing what you do?

Spring cleaning
Re: Are you doing anything different.....
TBH I'm going out tomorrow and Sunday to support local pubs and possibly a curry after. My liver sacrificed for the greater good of the local economy. TBH I'd sooner get it now so if I do get it bad theres a chance of a ventilator.

Not really just washing my hands a lot more, haven't been to the pub for almost a year since they stopped the pub quiz.
Re: Are you doing anything different.....
I spent 19 days on a ventilator just over 5 years ago. You'll spend time trying to rip it out.

Just stopping in with the lights off & curtains closed & won't be answered the door, it's boring but it's safe.

Washing my hands a hell of a lot more than usual which has lead to my eczema flaring up.
Not worried for myself but my wife has Interstitial lung disease and is immunosuppressed so we're trying very hard to minimise her risk. She was in hospital for 4 weeks with pneumonia in January and she really can't afford to get this.

Similarly washing my hands literally none stop (I already wash them plenty as it is) and my hands are now dry, cracked and sore and probably more at risk of infectionVenkys4eva wrote: ↑Fri Mar 13, 2020 9:08 pmWashing my hands a hell of a lot more than usual which has lead to my eczema flaring up.

Its people like your wife i worry about. Sure she will get through it with sensible precautions. Mrs grandad has emphysema and has just been in hospital with a chest infection. Hes been tested and all clear thankfuly.

The only thing that's changed is instead of doing a food shop just for a week, I've added a bit more here and there, but nothing excessive and certainly not stock piling loo roll
Other than that, life is normal.

Trying to stop touching my face when I'm out and about at work. Also wash my hands as soon as I get home before I touch anything else.

Washing my hands more and a little more conscious of hygiene. I spend most weekends with my 85 year old Grandad but will be a little more cautious, god bless him

I’m washing my hands a lot more, especially in the house and at work (primary school) and I’ve cleaned door handles a bit more.

From a purely selfish point of view you and your loved ones should be trying to catch the virus as soon as possible whilst NHS has capacity to traet you.

For all those muppets clearing out Tesco and proclaiming it’s the end of the world. This is the kind of situation that they probably aren’t involved with, yet should actually be worrying about.Venkys4eva wrote: ↑Fri Mar 13, 2020 9:08 pm

Not being over the top but I feel I may have already had it, a few weeks ago I took 2 weeks off work with the worse flu I have ever had, the build up to this had me with no energy and lack of breath just moving from the bedroom to the living room, it was awful, not trying to be overdramatic but I hope I have already had it. I had tickets for City tomorrow but then thought of going to Halifax v Ebbsfleet as non-league is carrying on for now, but read earlier from some research in China that despite "recovering" and symptoms leaving my body it can stay within your system for 5 weeks, so staying inside for me and probably watching 17/18 of Premiership Years.

Re: Are you doing anything different.....
It’s not unlikely. Many at my work have been ‘chesty’ we were in the office three days this week (usually out most days) and have had dry throat and very mild cold symptoms. Not unduly concerned about myself but whatever I’ve got / had definitely don’t want to pass on.claretburns wrote: ↑Fri Mar 13, 2020 11:45 pmNot being over the top but I feel I may have already had it, a few weeks ago I took 2 weeks off work with the worse flu I have ever had, the build up to this had me with no energy and lack of breath just moving from the bedroom to the living room, it was awful, not trying to be overdramatic but I hope I have already had it. Re: Are you doing anything different.....
Washing your hands more often won't make a hapenth of difference. There is absolutely no scientific/clinical evidence that it will so don't waste your time.

Re: Are you doing anything different.....
I am not wanting to sound a "doom-mongerer" I actually don't care about myself having it. But we had the same, 5/6 colleagues off work with the symptoms at our busiest time of the year, I am just concerned about passing whatever it is on to someone who may not be able to cope with it, be it someone in old age or previous medical conditions.cricketfieldclarets wrote: ↑Sat Mar 14, 2020 12:14 amIt’s not unlikely. It has been announced today that the first case in China was actually in October and not December as we have all be told, which also means why is there such a furore around the disease now when it could have been with us for the past 2/3 months.

Re: Are you doing anything different.....
I started the new job in November. And To be honest I have been under the weather (completely unlike me) a few times when I’ve spent a full week in the office. Put it down to the air con and where I usually sit being directly under the vent. Probably breathing all sorts of crap in. So don’t think mine is anything sinister. Just not used to the crap, dry office air.claretburns wrote: ↑Sat Mar 14, 2020 12:20 amI am not wanting to sound a "doom-mongerer" I actually don't care about myself having it. A lad has been sent home today as his wife has been exposed to it. He’s from Chorley and there are confirmed cases there. In fact he is involved with Chorley fc too.
Have to hope he doesn’t have it. Despite only being 21 he’s had some heart problems.
Sure we will all be alright. There is a lot of stress and worry. And conjecture and predictions. But the reality is it’s only a small number of people confirmed as infected. And an even smaller number seriously.
Even if there are many more infected but not reported surely that’s a good thing as it shows it’s far less serious than is being suggested? (For most of us)

You didn't say that you had a high temperature or a continuous cough.
I didn't need to go to medical school to know that you didn't have COVID-19.

My apologies for not listing every single thing I had during a small post on a message board. Also to back up your incorrect claims, not every person with COVID-19 will suffer from every symptom associated with the disease, some may have a fever some may not, some may have a cough some may not, it varies from patient to patient depending how mild or serious the contamination is within each person but however you're the doctor here so you know all this anyway.Bin Ont Turf wrote: ↑Sat Mar 14, 2020 12:28 amI don't think we need another thread about it.
