Karen Brady wtf?

Post by Aclaret » Sat Mar 14, 2020 10:02 am

Wants the season null and void, no bloody wonder looking at the bottom of the league as it is !
And she's sitting on the emergency premier league panel on Thursday !

Laughable if she did mean it. Especially with what position her club is in. It can't be taken seriously at all, as she wouldn't have said it if West Ham were 10th - fact.

There's 9 games left. If that means playing them before the start of next season and crunching them in to 2-3 games a week, then do it. She may have had a point if less than half the season had been played. She does come out with some crap though - pretty much everything I read.

Stupid bitch.

Well. In fairness, if the schedule can't be fulfilled. It'd have to be, ala during the war.
You can't hand Liverpool the title as Man City mathematically can catch them, you can't promote the top three in the Championship as even clubs as far down as Stoke can still mathematically reach the play offs.
You can't award spots or relegate teams or award titles while it's still mathematically possible.

It might be good news for Bury FC, if this season is cancelled. They could re-join next season.

Postponement would take relegation threatened clubs into a new transfer window?

The break will be longer than just s few weeks,it will be months in my opinion.

The club need to make an announcement about season tickets as renewal is at the end of this month.

I'm sure that could be solved with a window either being moved or an additional one being implemented. I can't see that being a problem.

You’d think some behind closed doors games could be managed at the very least

I know it's not the most reliable source, but theres something doing the rounds on Twitter that in the FA rulebook if a season is unable to be finished as long as 75% of a teams fixtures are completed then the results and positions will stand. Could be a complete load of rubbish though

So would that be 28 or 29 games, as Villa on 28 played and 75% of 38 is 28.5?

We'd have to go off the number that most teams have played... well... 75% of teams :)

Standard FA terms and certainly phrased in a way that applies to single teams - leave it to the lawyers to argue the toss. It would be odd if the Premier League had adopted boiler plate designed for pub leagues and up but nothing's impossible.

Who knows, it's probably a load of rubbish anyway. For what its worth I think the Premier League will do all they can to get the season completed somehow. There's just too much money at stake to do otherwise.

In the grand scheme of things this may be a reality check that the world does not revolve around the Premier League.

If it was 'Null and Void' then the only way the money could be distributed fairly is to divide it into equal shares. That isn't going to happen in a month of Sundays as the top clubs will budget for a bigger slice of the pie.

The Premier League is probably dead in the water until the pandemic has been downgraded and that will more than likely be the summer rather than April.

There will more likely be bigger decisions to be made globally before the Premier League gets bogged down in a legal bottomless pit.

Decisions made now and in haste will end up null and void and the winners will be a bunch of lawyers already drooling at the prospect of cashing in!

She’s a joke and shouldn’t be on that panel.
Finish the season behind closed doors if have to. A lot of work has gone in by lots of clubs to date and the fairest thing is to ensure it gets finished.

If it doesn’t get finished the whole competition is devalued. Look at the FA Cup since Man Utd opted not to go in it. Surely the TV companies and the clubs won’t want that. It will just become a farce like the Scottish PL.

Massive lawsuit all the leagues would lose. Man City alone could blow Liverpool out of the water over it financially. Ain't gonna happen and City would win as they could mathematically catch Liverpool. Bear in mind Liverpool's recent form is poor.

It makes far more sense to complete this season than start a new one. Even if that means next season is completely reformatted or split over 2 years.

It would have to be worse than poor to lose every remaining game AND for City to win all but one of theirs.

I've seen bookies offering 1/2000 on Man City to win the title.

If Burnley were in 17th Im sure a fair few on here would see sense in her opinion. Also if it just becomes impossible to complete the season then have a think how you would feel if Burnley were in 18th and the Premier League and EFL decided to just let the results and positions stand

Most of focus is on Liverpool but in reality that is just a title / honor whereas what is at stake for those at the top end of the Championship / bottom end of Prem League is something much bigger that will be fought over in court to the death if the season isnt completed

On current form I'd take those odds! Liverpool are not over the line 'til they're not mathematically able to be caught. It's not difficult mathematics. their form is shocking. City could, COULD still catch them. Then we have promotion and relegation. As I stated before. Even Stoke City, mathematically could finish in the top 6 of the Championship. She has a valid point. Not one I'd like but unless the season can be completed by late June at the latest. We just cancel it. It's been done before during the war. Man City will win a legal battle if it went to court, hands down. Liverpool would never be a bone fide champion if they were handed it when they are not mathematically clear. Not mentioning the legal minefield of relegation and promotion issues and the financial impacts. She has a point.

A possibility being muted currently is no relegation from the PL this season but 2 clubs promoted to the PL, thus expanding the league.

If that were to happen it could be the leverage that the some PL clubs need to not participate in the League Cup

Would this be the case if it was say Barnsley and Wigan in the top two places of the Champ and Bournemouth at the bottom of the PL. It will look like they are happy to try and have WBA and Leeds in it along with the likes of Villa and West Ham ie engineering the PL. I’m sure the porn barons and Brady will be desperate for this scenario.

Not relevant whether we agree. Liverpool would get laughed out of court if they challenged a cancellation of the season.

Why would Man City pursue a legal battle? If Liverpool were handed the title I'm pretty sure they'd congratulate them not go to court.
As for catching them, mathematically possible yes, but you're either fishing or an imbicile if you thought it realistically could be done.

Solution- get the team captains to complete the remaining fixture using FIFA2020. 😀

The games could be streamed - may be new era of football and would remove that VAR cr-p.

The season has to finish. Play it behind closed doors. Players to train at home, travel alone and get changed in their cars. Go straight on the pitch and stay out at half time. Reduce management team numbers to 1 plus a physio.

Go home after muddy and have a bath. Better than not finishing the fixtures.

Piece in this mornings paper saying half the PL clubs want to abandon the season.
Well that’s the bottom 8, who could all still go down, and the two Manc clubs, who couldn’t live with Liverpool winning it.
Wankers all.

I think we should put the outcome of the football season to a people's vote and have a referendum on the outcome scrap the season or play it behind closed doors, referendums are generally quick and decisive...problem solved eh?

We can catch Man City, but it's guaranteed that we won't.
Well, aren't you glass half empty eh? ;) :D

A game can abandoned after 60 minutes (not 100% on time please correct) but the result will still stand. The 'we could still mathamatically have won' argument applies here too but is ignored.
So I don't see with over 75% of the season played we can't abandon the league and the table stands.
The teams with a game in hand get assigned their average points per game rounded up or down to nearest whole number.

Other options
-There is a history of drawing lots or a coin toss to decide fixtures.
- Some kind of Duckworth-Lewis taking into account points per game, goals scored and conceded etc to calculate a final table.

I wonder how much support she would get for it.

City possibly, Norwich, Bournemouth and Villa almost certainly. Spurs as well.

Liverpool, Leicester and United would be dead against it I’d think.

Having thought about it I can see this going ahead

I cant see any legal ramifications as the PL & EFL apply the rules for others to follow. Dont like it, tuff

You are effectively signing up to their Ts & Cs

Plus it would be hilarious to see the shitstorm if a club decides to su in the light of a global pandemic and people dying

That club would effectively be blackballed by everyone outside their own club

There's similar activity in business where 'Force Majure' plays a part.
People do argue the toss.
There are still cases to be resolved from things like SARS and Foot and Mouth disease etc.

Plus I feel Brady will have already taken advice on the ramifications and workability of this to go public in the 1st place
