Yep. The big question is going to be for how long.

Just home from an excellent meal at the Summer Palace Chinese restaurant in Padiham and not a face mask in sight.

Summer Palace is by far and away the best Chinese in the area. The staff and owners are just so friendly and the food is second to none IMHO.
I recommend bat chop suey.
Seriously you wont be disappointed.

I wouldn't dream of recommending any Chinese as they are all the same and mediocre at that.

Tim-noone, ignore fanzines opinion. I highly recommend it. I also go about once a month midweek, with my mates. Spare Rib starter is to die for. Tonight I'd a really good mixed seafood chow main and my partner garlic, prawns and nooodles. I've been dozens of times and NEVER had a meal to complain about. I advise you book in advance on 01282 778189, if that helps.

Pubs in Halifax were very busy! Absolutely brilliant imo and makes a mockery of the ridiculous end of the world panic buying and the cancelling of gatherings of 3 or more folk!!
Re: Who's off out tonight?
Me and the wifey have been for a curry at Jaipur in Colne I thought it might be quiet but it was very busy...top notch scran as usual

Re: Who's off out tonight?
Not been for a good few years now.
Had 2 good meals, then 1 poor 1, so it slipped out mind.
I was always a fan of Beijing , but that peaked , dipped , peaked, got 0 food hygiene etc. So not been there for a good year or 2 either.
I'm trying Jade Palace of Earby today for the first time, I have heard great reviews on them.
On a side note, we are really struggling for a great Chinese takeaway in these parts these days.
If it's not the slimey rubbery meat, it's the frozen chips if it's not that it's the tough and/or fatty ribs or skanky chicken wings.
I'm hoping today restores my faith in chinese food
Re: Who's off out tonight?
I've dragged the family up there on the train , we are off to the museums today. The youngest is coughing her head off this morning. Hmmmmm. I've told her try not to cough when we get to the museum as they may ask us to leave!
I hope they don't. She was fine yesterday and would be very dissapoionted if we didn't stick to the plan.
People over 60 should be on lockdown so the rest of us can get on with it. If your over 60 and feel fit enough to get on with it , sign a disclaimer and take your chances with the rest of us.
Re: Who's off out tonight?
So true around the Burnley area. You would have to head to Manchester for anything decent . I used to like that yu and you place but went recently and it was nowhere near as good as it was when it opened.

That pretty much sounds like the government's plan (70 rather than 60). It sounds like a plan to me.Bfcboyo wrote: ↑Sun Mar 15, 2020 9:14 amI've dragged the family up there on the train , we are off to the museums today. Re: Who's off out tonight?
Went to watch Lancaster City v Witton Albion, and got a price reduction on with our Clarets season tickets. There were Plymouth and Sunderland fans on there too. Beer served all through the game. Nice view of the Priory and Castle. Then we went off into town where the pubs were all busy.

Whether planned or not, the social isolation/distancing will affect things a bit.
Re: Who's off out tonight?
No chance... I'm locked inside a window less room wearing a mask armed with just 1 bog roll and 3 bottles of red wine.Mrs Aclaret is checking on me by the hour.

Speaking of which, was at Wembley Arena last night to see Morrissey, he came on stage singing Skeeter Davis "Don't they know it's the end of the world" and coughed. Still got a sense of humour.
