Alternative Conversations
Okay, no football and personally I'm sick of reading about the virus. With this in mind some light hearted chat about...anything really.
Question to start - why when all websites start with www. do people giving out a website address, even on an ad, always start with www. - it's a given surely?

Re: Alternative Conversations
And why am I having trouble being ‘forbidden’ on here?
Oh, that worked. It’s on my pc at work but not my phone. It’s not the first time though and it’s not my work security.

Re: Alternative Conversations
Oh by the way spent 6 hours in Royal Blackburn yesterday for a suspected heart attack. Woke up with pains in my chest and a heart rate that was going off the scale at one point. After about 3 hours I decided to call 111 (pointless) then 999 (pretty good till they told me an ambulance would be about 2 hours unless I was at the point of collapse). So went to A&E. Got seen pretty much immediately and had an ECG within 15 minutes or so. Several blood tests, an X-ray, waited around a lot (not a criticism - they were great). Conclusion was no heart problem (relief) but it may have been a strain from excercise but they then decided they were worried about the high heart rate and the (now discovered) high blood pressure (when mine is normally low). I had another set of blood tests and now I have to have a 24 hour ECG monitor fitted in a week or two to check me out more thoroughly.
All very scary at the time and it kinda put the whole virus thing into perspective, at one point I thought I wasn't going to live long enough to catch it. The heart hasn't been totally ruled out but it is, as they say, highly unlikely.
It's weird how things look a whole lot different when you have had a scare ain't it.

Re: Alternative Conversations
I had a scare a few years ago, I’d get sudden shocks in what I thought was my heart (still do) had all the checks and my resting heart rate was about 36 which they said was too low. I was running around 50-60 miles a week at the time so pretty fit, think I’d probably pulled a muscle in my chest. It’s odd though, as I’d get a quick sharp shock when sat still and I still do every now and then.

Re: Alternative Conversations
I think I'm in a pretty good way mate and seem to be fine this morning (although that is a worry slightly because if it was an injury wouldn't it still be here today to a degree?). Anyway I'm not gonna worry about it or feel sorry for myself, that's not what I do, but I am going to have a week off the weights I think.
I think it's kinda odd that even though it (hopefully) turned out to be nothing much it still puts things into context doesn't it - when you think you might be at death's door (even though you're not) you get left with the feeling that thankfully nobody opened the f*ckin door and you feel sort of relieved and happy to be alive. I'm in a pretty good place this morning.

Re: Alternative Conversations
I would do mate but my beloved says I'm not allowed. She is 10 years younger than me and can't retire until she is 67 at her age (although she's now thinking we can afford it at 60 for her). I still work because for the first time ever really we have plenty of money (both working and me with two pensions) and no debt or mortgage. Only problem is because of my pensions my wage is taxed more than Amazon. Besides even if I did retire she would only find me a list of 'jobs around the house' to do and that would be worse than working and we'd have less money.
Irony is that with our new found wealth ( ) we have recently booked a great holiday for two weeks in May that looks like it won't happen now because of the great Chinese gift that keeps giving.

Re: Alternative Conversations
Yeah I married her but it lasted about 5 years mate then we called it a day back in '82. Been married to my current wife (she hates it when I call her that) for 30 years (after another co-hab in between). 4 kids - all girls - 1 from the co-hab who lives down in Poole now. None from Gill (the one from back in the day). My wife's okay really, I take the Mick but she has been brilliant all this time, she's calmed me down and made me a better bloke really I think. She met me as a bloke in a struggling band, put up with me through the struggle then put up with my moods when it came to an end. I give in to her mostly because she has never really done much to upset me.

I regularly get a cramp in the inter-costal muscles. Left side and all. First thought was always heart attack but now it has happened so often I just sit calm, breath deeply and stretch it out very slowly.Burnley1989 wrote: ↑Mon Mar 16, 2020 10:50 amthink I’d probably pulled a muscle in my chest. Re: Alternative Conversations
Thanks DA. My light heartedness often comes from strange places and I have the gift of being able to see good even in bad situations. My situation on Sunday was scary but my attitude to it was that in the end I appear to be fine so it's the happiness at the relief that colours my view of it. One of my all time heroes, Spike Milligan, always managed somehow to make light of his severe mental issues (even though he could talk seriously about them as well) and I suppose some of my inspiration comes from him.Devils_Advocate wrote: ↑Mon Mar 16, 2020 2:54 pmBloody hell mate, if this is your light hearted chat keep me away when you decide to get serious

Basically if you're alive there is always hope.
