Re: EURO 2020
Makes sense, should be doing more of this. Gives us something to look forward to and shows us that one day it will pass.
'By next June you'll either be dead or immune'.. decent slogan right there.

Re: EURO 2020
Had tickets for a group game in budapest, portugal were one of the teams playing. Booked my flights through ryanair and Jet2 and accommodation with air bnb.
Not sure what I'll end up doing tbh

Re: EURO 2020
Hardly unexpected but at least now the domestic leagues know they'll have a summer window to complete the outstanding fixtures,of course that's dependent on future events, but if this current crisis eases somewhat, then it might be viable to shoehorn the remainder of the domestic season into a 5/6 week batch of games, how that would work out for English clubs competing in Europe is another matter entirely, but it shouldn't be an insurmountable challenge.

Sister-in-law has had a cancellation notice from Ryanair. Full refund or credit option.padihamclaret wrote: ↑Tue Mar 17, 2020 10:36 pmHad tickets for a group game in budapest, portugal were one of the teams playing. Booked my flights through ryanair and Jet2 and accommodation with air bnb.

Lots of players out of contract in the summer, others presumably recovering from COVID-19 (which will still be in circulation). In any case players are unlikely to get in much training over the next few months, and how will what is in effect a summer league of largely meaningless games for many clubs impact next season? I can see the number of clubs arguing simply for this season to be cancelled increasing in coming weeks.

Re: EURO 2020
Fair points which is why i caveat-ed my comments as dependent on future events,if the season is cancelled, and that has to be a consideration, then the powers that be will have to find a solution to all outstanding promotion/relegation issues, that won't be easy and whatever answers they eventually reach some clubs won't be happy, and as the owners have made clear they'll possibly pursue the legal route if necessary.MalaysiaMo wrote: ↑Tue Mar 17, 2020 11:20 pm"at least now the domestic leagues know they'll have a summer window to complete the outstanding fixtures"

The obvious option open to solve this problem is scrapping relegation from the PL,and then promoting the top 2 from the Championship.and following this all the way down the leagues,to ensure the equal number of teams in each division. This won't satisfy everybody, but if Leeds and WBA were denied top flight entry due to circumstances outwith their control, they'd have no other option than to go to the courts, whether they'd win is a moot point, but purely the embarrassment of litigation would play on the Premier League's minds.
From a BFC viewpoint we don't have a vested interest as such,i know some posters think Europe's feasible, but that would be a tall order.
What could affect or board's thinking,is if an additional 2 teams join the EPL,even if only for a season, firstly the TV revenues would have to be reallocated, and there's already speculation as to how much those will be hit by the lack of live football the broadcasters can now show, and secondly presumably in a 22 team league, there would have to be some mechanism for extra relegation slots, either all in the one season,or split over 2 seasons,to finally get the league back the standard 20 team format.

Why is that? They have the same option as many, many other businesses - make the best of the circumstances and get on with it. And who are they going to sue - Wuhan market traders ?
