We tried that free kick routine a good few times, but in our group it was always referred to as the 'Halifax kick' so I assume that was the first time it came off.
My abiding memory of this game was of being so horribly hungover that despite being a longstanding vegetarian, I ate about 6 hot dogs during the match.

"Roger Francis".....Jimmy Holland kept busy! If that was the midweek game I drove over with three kids under 7 and my teenage daughter.

always looked forward to Halifax away when we would considerably outnumber the home fans, shite football but away days were a great laugh

They don’t make football grounds like that any more. Remember that game well, one of many good away trips that season (I barely get on one away game a season these days). Had forgotten that Halifax had two sent off though. Looking back the second one looks a bit harsh!

Watched a bit of Halifax on TV last week v. Ebsfleet and the ground is so much different now.

They did the 2 stands behind the goal to get the ground up to Football League standards in 98/99. Then the stand behind the dugouts opposite camera got done up about 10/15 years ago. Looks really smart. Probably one of the best and biggest in non league now, although a lot of it was done with the rugby in mind, not the football.
