Supermarket supply chain.
Rubbish.
Still haven't replenished lines that were out of stock at the beginning of the week.
I'm not falling for this stock piling malarkey, there's items you can't buy because they've failed to get them in.

Consumers demand choice which in times of crisis can't be sustained.
We don't need 50 varieties of tomato based pasta sauce, of course shelves will look empty.

I can hardly open our front door due to the sheer volume of toilet rolls we’ve purchased...

Another one to make you smile. Or think.
For those worrying about running out of toilet paper:
If you stop using toilet paper & just wipe with your finger... you are more likely to wash your hands & less likely to touch your face.
Hope this helps.

The romans used a sponge on a stick to wipe their arse. They would then wash the sponge ready for the next person.
It's sponges that every household needs.

Seriously?? Do you think there were warehouses around the country full of products just in case everyone suddenly CB anger their shopping habits, stopped eating out and all went shopping every day?No Ney Never wrote: ↑Thu Mar 19, 2020 8:42 pmRubbish.

Something on the BBC about that earlier. Severely cutting down on the varieties and sizes now.CombatClaret wrote: ↑Thu Mar 19, 2020 8:52 pmConsumers demand choice which in times of crisis can't be sustained.

Re: Supermarket supply chain.
The British psyche is weird,Italy have had a much higher infection rate and deaths than us so far(now this could change in the coming weeks)but on the news report earlier they were calmly queuing outside the supermarket,to go in individually, and they were only purchasing what they required.
It's always the same in this country,if you get a hint of a snowflake, people dash out and buy like crazy, even though many will already have cupboards and freezers full of items at home.i just hope all the supplies they've bought are utilised, and don't end up in the waste bin,but i won't count on it.

Re: Supermarket supply chain.
A sad and shameful reflection of the selfish majority in this country when:
- a nurse working on the front line all day is reduced to tears outside a supermarket because she cannot get produce to make a meal for herself at the end of a shift

Re: Supermarket supply chain.
Tesco was madness this morning, so got what I could and then went to my local Greek Supermarket. No problem getting surface cleaner, washing up liquid etc.
As it's only a short walk down the road I can go there in the middle of the night to get bread & milk etc.
No problem!

Can get the majority of stuff in our local shops thus avoiding the morons in the supermarkets.

Re: Supermarket supply chain.
Is it time to deploy the army to boost the supply chain/delivery infrastructure and police the stores?

Re: Supermarket supply chain.
That's what I've been doing. Shopping at the local mini-market, greengrocers and cafe. They haven't been out of anything that I've needed, that seems to be out at the larger supermarkets.Steve-Harpers-perm wrote: ↑Fri Mar 20, 2020 12:30 pmCan get the majority of stuff in our local shops thus avoiding the morons in the supermarkets.

Re: Supermarket supply chain.
They're doing a few things just to keep shelves full to prove to the great British fucktard population there's not a problem. My outfit has some excess trunking capacity. Snapped up by a couple of the main supermarkets. That plus easing of some restrictions and simplifying their product lines should do it.
Re: Supermarket supply chain.
This is phase 2. The run on shops and supermarkets was about 3 weeks ago when the virus first hittiger76 wrote: ↑Fri Mar 20, 2020 12:24 amThe British psyche is weird,Italy have had a much higher infection rate and deaths than us so far(now this could change in the coming weeks)but on the news report earlier they were calmly queuing outside the supermarket,to go in individually, and they were only purchasing what they required.

Re: Supermarket supply chain.
I have seen tweets comparing us and Italy now as well as jtv says we are 2/3 maybe 4 weeks behind Italy Etc the comparison would be fare if they were all calm then when you also take into account they are in total lockdown. If I could hazard a guess Human nature being generally consistent they will have had panic buying on a grand scale as well just a few weeks ago things will also calm down here as well in a week or so.

Re: Supermarket supply chain.
True that. Reading all the articles on Italy, we're exactly the same. The idea people are so different around the world is nonsense. Their disbelief, panic, grief and acceptance is just two weeks ahead in the cycle, that's all.
Anyway, the supermarket was full to the brim today. Panic buying seems to be on the wane.

Asda in Burnley was reasonably full on the shelves. Got everything I wanted other than rice.

New type of panic buying in the USA - guns.
This could turn out dangerous - a return to the wild west.
