After watching the Cardiff 1992 game came across this on you tube, another lively afternoon. Before the game there was bricks , pies and coins been lobbed over the segregation and looked to be kicking off from the ground up to Tonge Moor after the game.

Cracking atmosphere - away days there around this era had a certain ‘edge’ shall we say.
Remember going over there in the ‘85 season & being pelted with missiles throughout the game, the escort back to the station after the game seemed to just be a challenge for then to attack and then the train pulled into Blackburn station on the way home for some reason...... Big mistake as City were there on their way back from playing at Ewood that day & they dismantled the train with us on it!

Bolton had a real firm out that day. They attacked a pub full of Burnley fans before the game and all through the match the were missiles flying back and forth. Half time under the terrace they smashed through the dividing doors armed with scaffold poles and there were countless skirmishes on the car park after the final whistle.

Got a bit hairy as I had broken my foot and toes playing football 2 weeks before and was on crutches so thankful to make it to the car and out of there unscathed. Bolton clearly looking for revenge after what happened at the Turf a few months earlier.

Looking back you forget how wild it was on the terraces and outside. Hope they never come back.

Not a surprise they were looking for revenge!

Remember having to walk home to bury as the buses were full of bolton fans, got half way home then chased by a load of the w*****s that had seen us and stopped their car in front of us but being savvy we spotted this and turned back only to bump into a car that had stopped behind us, bastards!!!!

On video before the game you can actually see the Bolton fans ducking and dodging the missiles. Thought we got moved behind the goals before the game not the 1st half.

Forget how full bloodied those derby games were on the pitch. Today there would have been more than Taffy getting a red card.

There quite a few who played for both or who went on to play for both. We got some dreadful players off Bolton, Whatmore was probably the worst.

That game was real scary afterwards. We were on the car park behind the supermarket and as we were coming off, there were gangs of Bolton fans checking cars number plates for any mention of Burnley garages and then smashing the windows.
You could see the glass flying as we sat in the queue waiting our turn, fortunately the Old Bill showed up and ran em off before they got to our car.

Scariest, along with a couple of adventures at the old Ayresome Park, Middlesbrough, another hairy place.

Half time under the stand where the toilets were was pretty hairy, with our lot trying to break through to their fans and the Bolton fans trying to get into our side! And the car park after the game was lively!

Remember that a load of Burnley lads had travelled to the game on the back of one those vans with a flatback that went up and down. In the car park after the game they were singing going up / going down depending on what the driver was doing with the flatback. The police soon came over and got them all off :D :D
