Holidays
Holidays
Any thoughts from anybody would be appreciated. We have a holiday booked for august and I am not expecting for one minute to be able to go on it, but we have just received an email from on the beach offering to let us cancel it now for reduced cancelation fee of £50 per person (this would be £200 altogether). Now my question is If the holidays are cancelled anyway, would we be entitled to a full refund with out being charged? It seems to me that on the beach are trying to minimise their losses and charge a cancelation fee that would probably be higher than their profit margin in the holiday itself.

Re: Holidays
My tuppence worth (although might not be correct!) Firstly, check your travel insurance....when was it taken out? Secondly, by OTB offering this it might, and I mean might, negate any future claims if it's cancelled as they did offer you an 'out' although I am no legal eagle....

Re: Holidays
I logged into my travel insurance last night and there is now a sub section added saying if holidays are cancelled because of coronavirus you will not be covered.ClaretDiver wrote: ↑Sat Mar 21, 2020 3:59 pmMy tuppence worth (although might not be correct!) Re: Holidays
We have Annual Cover with Admiral and anything booked before 17th March is covered by them as that is the point that it was deemed a pandemic from an insurance pov, anything after that then no!
Re: Holidays
If you took out the insurance before this sub section was added it should not apply to you. Speak to them. It's the only way to be sure where you stand.

Re: Holidays
That should only apply to new bookings made since the outbreak. Was your booking and insurance in place before the outbreak?
Re: Holidays
That is interesting then and maybe something for me to check, My holiday and insurance was booked long before that day also.

Re: Holidays
Double check that because my annual travel insurance have said that they will cover for trips planned before a specific date in March.
As for the OP I would be inclined to wait it out in the hope that the holiday can go ahead or if travel bans are imposed you get a full refund. The concern being if the travel bans are UK imposed and the holiday resort are open for business as usual.

Re: Holidays
We have an annual insurance policy but it looks like we have only got one short break out of it, no claims.
Anybody have an idea if we were to contact them to suspend the cover for a year would they wet themselves laughing or might we have a chance?
