The Nest (BBC 1) 9PM

Post by tiger76 » Sun Mar 22, 2020 9:07 pm

Sorry meant to post this earlier, new drama starts tonight.

The Nest is a Glasgow-set surrogacy thriller which explores the life-changing consequences of a wealthy couple asking a teenage girl to carry their baby.

Dan and Emily are madly in love and have been trying for a baby for years – with an enormous house in the poshest area of the Glasgow area, the only thing missing from their perfect lives is a child.

By chance, the couple meet 18-year-old Kaya who lives at the other end of town and whose life is a lot more precarious than theirs. Kaya agrees to carry their baby, but there’s a mystery around who Kaya really is and what has brought her into the couples lives.

“Can the dreams of Kaya, Emily and Dan be fulfilled or have all three embarked on a relationship of mutually assured destruction?” asks the synopsis.

Saw them filming some scenes for this a few months ago, promising cast list, including Martin Compston,if you want some escapism from all the CV news.

A slow-burner as you'd expect with 5 episodes in total, lots of secrets of course, and Doddy's mysterious drowning left plenty of unanswered questions.

The actress who portrays Kaya was outstanding, considering this is her 1st major role, very natural and i can see a lot of offers coming her way on the back of this part.

Indeed Steve. It's all going to unfold. There's not much worth watching on the tv at the moment so this and the Liar are keeping me going. :)

The current series of Homeland is absolute top, top quality TV.
Have enjoyed The Nest sofa but found Liar dull.

I never realised homelands back on, season 8 will be the last 1, it's worth pointing out on all4 episode 4 onwards is only available, the other 3 are on daily motion or other sourced streams for people behind with the series.

I think it's now become my favourite programme of all time. Whilst I thought there was a bit of a dip in quality after the first couple of series featuring the Brody plot this was very short-lived and the last few series have been consistently superb. Really noticeable how bang on the money the theme of each series has been in terms of current events...apparently the writers spend a few days with the CIA at Langley before they write each series to get a feel for what "hot" issues they see as coming down the line in the near future.
