One In One Out Under Operation At Colne ASDA
Just a heads up that's all
It's the most civil I've seen a supermarket in a long while

Sounds like a sensible approach. Was there a particularly long queue outside or have things started to calm down a bit on that front?

It was on Look North last night for us Yorkshire folk, it was Waitrose, very well organised, the shelves were full and because they limited the amount of people there was lots of room down the aisles.

Queuing time was around 10 minutes and stretched from the entrance, past the £1 cafe along the front to the entrance where you can go into the more expensive cafe (if that makes sence)
It's not to too hectic though as staff have put spacing markers down for people to keep a safe distance apart.
Once inside things are very civil and there plenty of stock to go round imo

Same at Morrisons, Great Harwood.

Same in stores on the island. It's now become a full day out to do your weekly shop. Bit of a bugger if it's raining though

It's been like that in France for over a week now.
The good news is that the queues really die off after the first 3/4 days when people calm down a bit.
Good luck everybody and stay safe!

Good idea and hopefully people will eventually calm down and get used to the new normal. Can't wait til this is all over but accept this may be a long time coming.

Morrisons in Skipton this morning similar and likewise very civilised (apart from the odd one or two who were dealt with by security staff promptly, and sent to the back of the queue...)

Just been Sainsburys in Leeds and no special measures apart from announcements, notices and markings on the floor to remind customers about limiting items and keeping your distance
People moved around the store a lot more carefully and waited and moved out of way to let people past but I was in and out in under 30 mins. Queue at Checkouts was only 2 or 3 deep but everyone stood well back till it was their turn
Was actually a nicer experience than normal without screaming kids running around and impatient people barging their way down the isles

Are supermarkets restricted to only selling essential items?

I presume they're selling everything within their premises that they have in stock.TheFamilyCat wrote: ↑Wed Mar 25, 2020 1:30 pmAre supermarkets restricted to only selling essential items?
That's how it is in France at least.
If I go out of town I can buy tonnes more "essential" stuff in the large hypermarkets which are still open.

Where I shopped it was what Rowls says with a limit of 3 items per product for most things and 2 items for essential products in high demand

That would be my guess to but seems to me that is just an open invitation to go out shopping when they don't need to. Same with the likes of B&M, Home Bargains and Wilkos opening.

Only things ‘shut’ in Acc Tesco were the opticians and phone shop. Otherwise all normal. No queues at all but only went at half five. Plenty of stuff on the shelves though.
Re: One In One Out Under Operation At Colne ASDA
On Friday in Asda, I could only buy 3 bottles of soda water, after having 4 in my trolley. Yet, I could buy 6 bottles of wine as they weren`t all the sameDevils_Advocate wrote: ↑Wed Mar 25, 2020 1:36 pmWhere I shopped it was what Rowls says with a limit of 3 items per product for most things and 2 items for essential products in high demand

Re: One In One Out Under Operation At Colne ASDA
Which is cheaper, buying fizzy water or making your own using something like a soda stream? Just curious.
Re: One In One Out Under Operation At Colne ASDA
I don`t have a soda stream.
Which is cheaper. buying a steak from the butchers or having your own cattle to butcher?
Just curious.
