Has time gone backwards?

Post by Colburn_Claret » Wed Mar 25, 2020 7:57 pm

I don't know if it's just me, but walking the streets the last few days. The lack of, or lot less traffic, and fewer people. It's reminded me of when I was a kid and you could play in the street quite safely, and the noise pollution has gone.
They say sights and smells are great memory stimulators, and I just feel like I'm back in the early 60s. It's great.

Agreed. Me and the missus were out on the bikes this afternoon and even on country roads, she's not too confident because of traffic, not that it's really a problem.
Today ? Ten cars in an hour, if that.

For 25 years I have been trying to get the 3 secondary schools and the village primary, which are all in a line, to sort the school traffic issues. Each holiday, we become a village again.

This morning there was just 3 cars in the car park and no through traffic! Sorted!

Wait until it’s over and the whole world will have gone back in time.
This will take 10 years or more to get back to where we are now.
Unemployment up.
Less planes, dearer tickets.
British holidays.
Exchange rates.
Buy British.
There will be positives, mainly for planet Earth.

Increase in friendliness, at a repectful distance, when we meet people who are out walking in Astley Park. Bird song clearer, paths quieter - wonderful.

I walked to the corner shop last night and it felt really eerie, not cars on the main road, no people on the street, only me in the shop (and the shop keeper).

I have also noticed if you do see someone they will usually stand to one side while you pass each other, and no one speaks when passing.

Went for a walk along the canal and the water is clear I've seen massive fish and about 1 feet from the bank you can see loads of white/light looking frogs just sat on the bottom very strange.

Plus petrol is very very cheap......a bonus from all this crap

I live a few hundred yards from the A1. Normally, there is the distant sound of cars and trucks. Almost nothing now!

Good news is I think when we are all driving electric cars, this is what we will have....just the sound of tyres.
