Worth saying that by working you aren't particularly taking more of a risk than anyone else. We're all going to get it at some point, believing you're going to avoid it altogether by staying off for 3 weeks is a fantasy.

You're helping to 'flatten the curve' in this initial wave and that's to be recommended but you're just putting it off for a bit. As am I, working from the garden today and it's glorious.

Still working and its busier than ever. Never thought working in a Tesco would be "essential". Been told quite a few times I'm on the "front line".

Working in home delivery it has been very busy to say the least. Still havent got physically abused like some of my collueges, only verbal, so guess i should count myself lucky.

Landed from Venice on 7th March and had to self quarantine for 2 weeks and work from home. As of Friday 20th the whole of the office has been told to work from home though for the foreseeable. Not affecting me much but the clients we work with are gradually closing, affecting our companies workload. Not ideal but I feel for those who are losing income.

I’m splitting time at school between myself and our Deputy Head. We’re still open for some pupils so that critical worker parents can get to work.

Who is working from home?
Who is off work for a while and how long do you think you'll be off for?

I work from home in digital marketing.

Like most others I expect who work from home, business is down - currently around 50-60% of what I'd normally expect, so I'm putting more hours in to try and get it back up to normal.

Yes still working. Thankfully able to work from home. Just one of an army of civil servants working behind the scenes. Doesn’t always make the headlines but there are a lot of us working night and day to get benefits to people, sort out the new rescue packages etc. It’s good to be able to keep busy tbh

I am actually on holiday this week, brilliant timing or what. I will though be working from next week via works laptop and phone.

What type of shop is it, if you don't mind saying on here? I work in a catagory of shop allowed to stay open but the bosses wont. I would rather work ( safely - telephone orders and deliveries ) than sit on my arse.

I've just finished a 12 hour shift less 2 hours for lunch. Most at home, but I've been alloted an hour at the office which usually has maybe 30 people in, but for the hour I'm the only one allowed in. I seem to have the last one of the day so I got longer today.
Working at home I usually don't like but right now, I find it's Ok. I quite like the thought of helping to keep some of the furloughed people's jobs open, and the clients all seem happy that they are still being helped when things are looking bleak.
The girlfriend is off limits for the duration, as theatre nurses are now lined up as extra itu nurses with covid victims moving to makeshift itu wards in theatres.
The only thing is, she's dead bored as there aren't enough victims here for the usual itu beds and long may that continue. We have 4 live in hospital. 1 dead so far. Not that this seems to match the official reports at all (apart from the dead one).

In short..I'm still working.

I was layed off last Friday. Sent an email requesting to be furloughed was told that they're looking into it but can't garuntee it. So it's a case of applying for other jobs. Just a **** situation that's left me with so much anger but not knowing who to be angry with.

That is bad luck, I didn't realise that when discussing furloughed workers on the other thread I would been more sensitive, I know some industries have become busier & are recruiting as a consequence of the virus so work is available. Everywhere seem to be adopting different policies regarding leaving workers, some are going in batches at different intervals, some are just closing outright no messing about, some seem to be shutting different shifts off to lower the numbers.

It's a bit of a lottery really is this exempt status. I have wholesalers & know of other shops etc that are allowed to remain open, but choose to close.
I suppose it's a question if economics and safety. I have had to lay staff off and put them on the furloughed scheme.
The shop is quite large, so we are able to put in safety measures. There may become a point when it's not feasible to remain open however.

The excempt thing is certainly a grey area. It's just been getting to me that we could safely be there for pickups and deliveries. And yes, make some money. And give people something constructive to do. However, the points made elsewhere about vital or unnecessary outings are valid. As it is, I think in a week or so it will just be absolutely needed places that are open.

I live in Wuhan, China. I teach English.
The whole city is on "Lockdown" all schools are closed as is everywhere else, shops etc.
We are not even allowed to leave our apartments.
So, no, I'm not working at the moment, but possibly I will be allowed to continue after 8th April.

worked from home 2 weeks and counting

I work for a specialist electricity equipment manufacturer based in South Wales. All our sites are operating at full strength at present.

I’ve been working 2/3 days at home since I started in October. No real change for me, in fact the team is working better scattered about the UK.

Factory and workshops are still open, as work can’t be taken home, but with strict measures in place to avoid large gatherings.

No talk of laying off any of our workforce yet.

Looking likely that I'm going to be off for another couple of weeks at least.

I’m not currently working and haven’t been for almost a month now. I work as a Drayman delivering cask beers. Sales fell off a Cliff a week and a half before the closing of pubs and the lockdown. I have been furloughed, however finding it hard work living in a modest second floor flat with my wife. I love her to bits but being with each other virtually every minute of the day is getting a bit strained. Still, we should be thankful I suppose that we are both ok in relation to our health. I was planning to retire in a years time, however this lockdown has made me rethink my options. Good luck to all you clarets who are working and keeping the country functioning.

Been working from home for 17 years but my wife had to leave her office on 17 March and is working from home for the first time. Very difficult for her ( and all like her) to adapt to such a radical change especially with our youngest here as well instead of being in class. She's gradually getting used to it and I am proud of her (yes, I do mean that). Much more difficult for our lad though.

Was working from home until yesterday then got a call from my line manager and a HR person to say I'm now on furlough.

Bit surprised tbh but being paid 80% of my wage not to work doesn't seem too bad under the circumstances though can't help thinking it's a pre-cursor of future changes to come if/ when things get back to normal.

Anyway, whatever will be but can honestly say I'd give up 100% of my wage if I knew my family, friends, and everyone else I care about (including all my fellow clarets) could come through this shitstorm unscathed..

Last day today as due to start a new role after Easter and been put straight on to Furlough.

A bit stupid really as I currently have a couple of busy projects on the go and my boss would love to delay me moving roles and keep me working

Still the decision has been made so will just make the best of it and offer my services to the NHS

have been working from home, doing my own hours for a while now, work has ramped up due to the virus though, so am doing more hours but I still pick and chose what I want to do.
