Been on Spotify since university days and got into the habit of making seasonal playlists with my favourite tracks. It recently hit 10 years so I combined those into a separate playlist which you can listen to here:
https://open.spotify.com/user/tifstorey ... gGTIaDPdow

Be warned - there's 851 tracks on there currently! All sorts of music in there, if you've got some time, have a rummage through!

I'm always on the lookout for new music too if you have a playlist/suggestion?

I've not been using Spotify for long but it's been getting some use while I've been locked in the house

Just had a 'rummage' and borrowed a couple of tracks. Think we're different generations but notice you have 'Wild World' by Cat Stevens,.a.song that I always associate with the start of.my full time student days in Sep. 1970. Notice you also have 'High Hopes' but by Pink Floyd. High Hopes was one of my favourite songs as a boy growing up.but by Frank Sinatra. Very uplifting song apt for.today. I have a couple of playlists, one with just general favourites from down my many years and the other a compilation of.tamla, soul.and northern soul. Happy listening and stay safe.

The one song which I always associate with student days is Band of Gold by Freda Payne, just because it was number one when I first went to Uni.

That's right CT so you first went to Uni in Sep.70 like me. The reason I mentioned Wild World is that another student in a room opposite me in halls was constantly playing it on his record player.

I dont do Spotify. My kids know how much I'm into music & think I'm mad for avoiding it but I still like to buy cds and listen to them whole a few times, read the inserts etc.

On the subject of associating certain tracks with early uni days - I frequented the Union bar quite a bit between lectures and evenings/weekends and there were a fair few tracks that were played a huge number of times on the jukebox, a few of which I always associate with that time.

Man of the World by (pre middle of the road) Fleetwood Mac
"Days of Pearly Spencer" by David McWilliams.
"White Room" - by Cream
"Turn, turn, turn" by Mary Hopkin (it being in Wales- I have a vague recollection of a Welsh language version of this too).

Would that be 'turn, turn, turn as covered by The Byrd's (taken from Ecclesiasticus)?

Yes SilkySkills - that "turn turn turn" (based on Ecclesiastes)- I first came across by Pete Seeger or Peter/Paul/Mary but it was covered by the 18 year old Mary Hopkin in 1968/9 - after The Byrds had covered it. I think it mayve been on a single with "Those were the days (my friend)". She was a "nice Werlsh girl" so very popular on the Cardiff jukeboxes

I remember Mary Hopkin. Promoted by Paul McCartney and the Apple label?

Glad you found a few you liked. That's what Spotify is great for, sharing and collaborating. I've got quite a few ongoing playlists with friends (some I prefer than others!). I still prefer to buy CDs/Vinyls where possible but find a lot of new music through Spotify.

Funny that 'Wild World' was your uni track; it takes me back to my uni days, though we're talking slightly more recently (yet scarily 10 years) at 2010. I had a room mate who used to play it all the time.

Post your general playlist if you can. Always nice to have a listen through peoples favourite tracks.
