Reading of the passing of Fred Smith today reminded of the part that Jack Hixon played in the smashing players we had in the 1950s and 60s.
I remembered reading an article in the Chronicle up here and managed to find it ---apologies if it has been posted before.

Re: Jack Hixon of the North East
Not so much in the 1950s really but a good number in the 1960s - his best were probably O'Neil & Coates

If only he’d have still been primarily linked to us when he scouted a certain Alan Shearer.

O'Neil and Coates...what a pair! Would have loved to see them in the present Burnley team.ClaretTony wrote: ↑Thu Mar 26, 2020 9:08 pmNot so much in the 1950s really but a good number in the 1960s - his best were probably O'Neil & Coates

Ashingtonclaret. A great read. Jack certainly could spot a player. Thanks for posting it.

Re: Jack Hixon of the North East
Yes thanks for posting, this must have stuck in the craw of Newcastle United, finding all these north - eastern players for Burnley whilst their team only ticked over. Mind you the migration trend south started earlier with Adamson, Angus, Pointer, Robson,Talbut etc and carried on later with Hankin, Parker, Scott and others. But don't mention Phil Malley!
