Donald Trump
Re: Donald Trump
When I see people actually trying to explain some of Donald Trump's recent public statements as being .......well anything other than garbage I just feel that there is no point at all in engaging with them on any level. One has to accept certain fairly basic scientific truths to be even considered sane, Trump and his sympathisers don't even make that grade as far as I can see.

It's easy to laugh at the car crash tv that is Trumps' press briefings but I genuinely think the guy is suffering from some form of dementia be it Alzheimer's or something else (just a layman's guess, I'm not a doctor)
It's actually quite sad and disconcerting to see a POTUS floundering about in these daily updates with his advisors looking on in horror wondering what nonsense he'll come out with next.

Re: Donald Trump
These polls are alarming if you want Trump removed from the White House in November.
https://today.yougov.com/topics/politic ... al-advice
https://today.yougov.com/topics/politic ... -win-poll
Biden needs to retain Bernie Sanders backers, and despite Sanders endorsing him,Biden isn't doing that,he's leaking 1 in 5 to Trump, that could prove critical come November, one way he could rectify this is by picking Sanders as his running mate, but if he opts for that,he runs the risk of Trump portraying him as a Communist stooge.
The bigger problem for Biden is many of his supporters don't believe he can win, that's not encouraging,as some may not bother turning out,if they don't think their votes will matter in the grand scheme.

Re: Donald Trump
Looks like the news conferences will be ending,it's all the media's fault apparently, why am i not Donald always finds someone else to blame for his failings.
Angry Trump says briefing media 'not worth it'
President Donald Trump did not hold his daily briefing on Saturday, tweeting that it was not worth his "time or effort" and blaming the media for asking "nothing but hostile questions".
He was heavily criticised after suggesting at Thursday's White House news conference that disinfectant could potentially be used as a treatment for the virus.
The performance caused embarrassment even among some of his supporters, BBC North America correspondent Peter Bowes says.
Mr Trump's tweet appears to confirm reports that the conferences may be coming to an end because polls suggest they have not bolstered the president's popularity among voters, our correspondent adds.
His remarks on Thursday were condemned as dangerous by doctors and manufacturers, as disinfectants are hazardous substances and can be poisonous if ingested.
In New York City, calls to the hotline for exposure to certain household chemicals more than doubled in the 18 hours after Mr Trump's remarks - 30 cases compared to 13 for the same time frame last year.

Some very dark clouds on the horizon for Biden. Personally I don’t think he will be the candidate at the next election. Who the party choose as his running mate will tell us a lot. You read it here first

Re: Donald Trump
The only certainty about Biden's running mate,is that'll it'll be a female, and that said woman will be a heckuva lot younger, than either Biden or Trump, beyond that it's vague, although many Democrats are openly advocating choosing a black woman,as they think this will attract African Americans to go to the polls in greater numbers.
Re: Donald Trump
Bear in mind that should Biden be elected his VP will become President in the event that Biden should become incapacitated during his Presidency. As he will be 78 in November it is highly unlikely he will be able to serve 8 years as President especially considering his present memory issues. Therefore his choice of VP will be critical. This of course is assuming he actually stands against Trump and wins !!!tiger76 wrote: ↑Sun Apr 26, 2020 2:30 pmThe only certainty about Biden's running mate,is that'll it'll be a female, and that said woman will be a heckuva lot younger, than either Biden or Trump, beyond that it's vague, although many Democrats are openly advocating choosing a black woman,as they think this will attract African Americans to go to the polls in greater numbers.
Re: Donald Trump
Correct. Takes a sensible poster on this forum to acknowledge the huge story that all the fake news purveyors on this thread either won't or can't be bothered to acknowledge. Joe "every woman must be believed" Biden has been credibly accused of sexual assault.
I personally hope this is not true but given the way the media and Democrats persecuted Judge Kavanaugh, this accusation must now be given a similar airing. It is much more credible. If it is, think Biden is finished.

I think his personal health plus his family business ties to China are even bigger problems than his sexual groping accusations.Uwe Noble wrote: ↑Sun Apr 26, 2020 3:23 pmCorrect. Re: Donald Trump
The other huge news which, again, the mainstream media will not acknowledge, are the developments in the General Flynn case. Documents released to Flynn's defence by the Justice department show Flynn being blackmailed into pleading guilty to lying to the FBI. Expect some very big developments on this case over the next couple of weeks.

Just showed his infamous Disinfectant Speech again which will now be remembered alongside the Gettysburg Address. Not sure what is funnier - the speech or his claims that he was being sarcastic.
Actually I am sure - it’s definitely his batshit crazy speech.

Re: Donald Trump
I have no idea if there's any credence to the sexual assault claims or not,but the timing is remarkably convenient, either way surely even Trump doesn't have the brass neck to make this an issue in the campaign, considering his past misdemeanours, mind you with Donald nothing surprises you anymore.
What is staggering is once again in the melting pot of the world, the 2 main candidates are 70+ middle-class white males ,hardly screams diversity does it,and people wonder why the youth aren't engaging in the political process stateside.
And no the UK isn't any better, before you ask.

The very best bit was when Donny Orange said he only suggested injecting yourself with disinfectant sarcastically to see what would happen. Apparently the fake news media are so very hostile to him so he was just testing them.
Then it showed the video where he was clearly directing his suggestions to a scientist named Bill. Apparently Bill is now going to test Donny's suggestion in his laboratory. It's a great laboratory by the way, a tremendous laboratory.
Meanwhile poor Bill was looking utterly bemused and latterly sick to his stomach. "Yeah cheers for that Donny, you can be the first test subject"

Politics in most countries is ruled by money,it's just more overt in America, look at who the Dems were bigging up a few months ago,Ah! yes Michael Bloomberg,so they're no better than the GOP,i don't disagree the whole system needs sweeping reform, but it'll never happen as there's too much self-interest at stake.
Re: Donald Trump
Since you can only run for President if you have millions yourself, or can be bankrolled by others with millions, it'll never happen as you rightly say.tiger76 wrote: ↑Sun Apr 26, 2020 5:30 pmPolitics in most countries is ruled by money,it's just more overt in America, look at who the Dems were bigging up a few months ago,Ah! yes Michael Bloomberg,so they're no better than the GOP,i don't disagree the whole system needs sweeping reform, but it'll never happen as there's too much self-interest at stake.
Bernie Sanders was the closest person the USA have come to selecting someone who'd want to change the way that money stinks out the country, yet even his own party turn their nose up at the prospect.
It's why I can't understand the obsession some have with American politics on here. It's all just totally laughable.
Re: Donald Trump
The current pandemic demonstrates the problem perfectly where it is more important to win the next election rather than cure the current problem. Democrats clearly want Trump to fail which by inference means they want more citizens to die and the country to be bankrupt hence Pelosi taking a 2 week vacation in the eye of the storm. The US political system only works if one party has total control or both parties can work in a bipartisan way. Sadly we are way too divided for either of the abovetiger76 wrote: ↑Sun Apr 26, 2020 5:30 pmPolitics in most countries is ruled by money,it's just more overt in America, look at who the Dems were bigging up a few months ago,Ah! yes Michael Bloomberg,so they're no better than the GOP,i don't disagree the whole system needs sweeping reform, but it'll never happen as there's too much self-interest at stake.

Reagan ended the Cold War without firing a single shot. That in itself is a colossal achievement which guarantees his status as one of the very greatest US Presidents.
How can you possibly evaluate Trump if you have no appreciation of American history?

Same with the U.K. in different areas. Biggest complaint on living over here is the lack of society. It has none. Ironically, southern Illinois was the only place I ever experienced any thing resembling a structured sense of community, in an area that was very Republican. They were all farmers, wonderful people. They were always helping each other out and there was nothing fake about them. Had some very interesting debates.
I told them about the original of 'sir' loin,at Houghton towers in Preston. 22 years later and they still **** themselves laughing about my ridiculous story.
I digress.
Any mention of a national health service is met with mumblings of communism , over here. Pointing out the socialist structures in American society causes eyes to glaze over.
Ironically, socialism, not capitalism is getting people through this crisis, but still Republicans do not see unemployment checks and stimulus checks,or free health care to treat virus victims as socialism.
Even after this has ended, whenever that may be,the majority of Americans ( including many Democrats)
Will argue that socialism has no place in America.
Modern day McCarthyism is alive and well over here.
