April 1st tomorrow

Post by ClaretTony » Tue Mar 31, 2020 7:56 pm

It’s a new month tomorrow and being April that usually brings with it a few stories that are, shall we say, not always the complete truth. Such stories have appeared here and on my previous sites over the years.

This year I’ve decided there won’t be one on Up the Clarets. Given the current situation I don’t think it is appropriate.

There is one on the Clarets in the black thread - pretty sure that a poster lives in a different timezone at the moment

Good idea -

Whilst it wasn't on this site - I'm still waiting for the knitted wool shirt.. Thought Jay Rod being back could have been the opportune time...

So it's not true that Turf Moir is to be an emergency hospital and all home matches to be played at Gawthorpe?

I'm pretty sure people joked even during two World Wars. Shame on them, presumably.

Presumably some of us at the moment are coming here for a bit of entertainment and a laugh.

If they're shite jokes then fair enough, but let's not quell the humour at this crap time for all of us.

This is fair enough because it's hard enough separate fact from crap on this subject (BBC)

"Germany's health ministry has warned that coronavirus is no laughing matter.

"In the current situation, we kindly ask you to do without invented stories on the subject of coronavirus," the federal body tweeted, to reduce the danger that the fight against the virus is made harder by "incorrect information".

Nothing to fall for. My personal view right now is that it is not appropriate for the site. There will be no updates today until this afternoon.

The kids genuinely got me with a good one this morning. Still got to have a laugh.

So the post regarding the 2019/20 season "cancelled"still stands.

Life is too short to be miserable. It's a great British trait to smile, laugh and
joke through adversity, all the while respecting others.

Stiff upper lip, and all that.

Anyway, there was this Englishman, Irishman and Scotsman ................
