Having seen our club go through really difficult times I could really relate to the Sunlan fans during series 1 - I'll start watching the new series tonight.

We're not unfortunately, or fortunately, cup was this season, show covers Sunderland from last season.

I managed to get it free through my Sky deal but having seen what's on offer, and given we are all stuck at home more, I'd say it is excellent value if you pay for it.

Just watched first ok, not as dramatic as season1.
Only 6 episodes, 4 is Jan transfer window, 5 is trophy at Wembley, 6 is playoffs.

On episode 3.
It’s a really interesting watch again.
Absolute basket case of a club financially.

The lack of scrutiny and control over expenditure before the new owners took over from Ellis Short is frightening. Endemic from top to tail in the club and a culture amongst all the non playing staff of just spending money without a clue of the impact.

Thank goodness Burnley in the last 10 years has been ran in pretty much the opposite way to Sunderland.

Good watch though and hard not to develop a soft spot for them when you see the passion and pain of the fans. But as Burnley fans we have been there too.

Watched it all today,another excellent insight into the runnings of that club.
One thing i didn't like,was the treatment dished out to one woman in the sales team.If Charlie had spoken to my wife like that,she would have kicked him in the balls.Awful use of bad language to women like that,I don't like.

The filming of the Wembley trophy final was stunning both for editing and picture quality.

Only just started watching season 1 i find the fans boo happy seem to think they are entitled for some reason similar to Newcastle fans...they were booing at a pre season game ffs..decent watch so far though..

No different than our fans really - I'll never forget the 'Dyche Out' at Morecambe after we'd lost a pre-season game there 1-0 in 2013 when we ended the game with half of the youth team on the pitch.

From the first one it was difficult to judge the fans reaction at times as they were jumping from footage from different games all the time.

I watched the Leeds one "Take us home"...it was a lovely way to spend yesterday watching Leeds slowly but surely bottle promotion,the result against Wigan over the Easter period were they lose against ten men is a joy to watch....anyone with an afternoon to spare and needs cheering up in these sad times give it a watch it builds and builds over 6 episodes to comedy gold at the end.

Just finished watching it, my thoughts are has there ever been a more unlucky club! Great massive fan base who deserve much more than league 1 football.. I hope when/if this season is completed that they return to the championship & then back to the premier league the season after.

Very much worth watching - I've just finished the second series and all the way through I could relate to the frustrations of their fans.

Well, that marketing chap is the biggest bulls**t merchant I have ever come across who obviously loves the smell of his own farts.

I lost faith in him from episode 1, as soon as he decided he wanted DJ Tiesto ibiza-style music for their players to walk out to.

Watched all 2nd series now and enjoyed it.
Yep Charlie was a right Charlie - some southern wide boy bully who thinks he knows everything...including more about how to manage the team than the manager.

I thought the new owner was pretty sound though. He had such a tough job trying to sort out the mess left by Short but he was good with the fans and staff.

I hope they go up soon....that would make a good series 3. Series 1 was as low as a club could possibly get off and on the pitch - they didn’t win at home for nearly a year and it’s a painful watch seeing the fans go through this.
Series 2 was definitely more up beat for the whole club - again on and off the pitch.

Eight times to Wembley since 73 and lost every time and still tens of thousands go. Some proper fans those. The Will Grigg bit is funny. Say what u like about the new owners they were right about what a rich owner and prem money does to spending. All clubs who sink like stones after relegation have been run similarly to Sunderland. Thankfully we don't suffer from that. The January window is only for the desperate. If Maja had stayed, and stayed fit, they would have gone up. Having said that his scoring has slowed down at Bordeaux.

To be fair the fans and the owner were in total agreement with him on 3 different occasions. The gap between the midfield and Griggs and the Wembley second half set up being 2, I can’t remember the third but there was one. Jack came out of it as a poor manager.

To be fair to Ross he did say that Grigg wasn't worth anymore than the £1 million or so offered. Then they offered nearly treble that!
Love the euphemism of Grigg 'not hitting the ground running' for his inability to put the ball in the net. And I just don't get that they are 'deserving' of better things.

Just watched series 1 this afternoon for the first time, start to finish. A great show. You have to feel for the fans, true supporters of any club are special. But that defence, what a bloody disaster. Everything about the club was right, apart from the players on the pitch. It was obvious they needed stripping back to the bare bones, get rid of the deadwood, Rodwell is a prat, and rebuild from the bottom.
I'm looking forward to this 2nd series now.

The owners are really on a hiding to nothing imo.

These big clubs supporters put the team under so much pressure when the going gets tough. For Sunderland read Leeds and Sheffield Wednesday.

On a side note, I didn’t realise our Jimmy Dunne was playing for them from January. He played 14 times and didn’t lose a single game.

Hadn’t realised they hadn’t lost any of the games he played in. Some very strange team selections defensively from Ross during that time.

just started watching...makes it all look like fans and players, and managers, are all just insignificant pawns in a fattty world overseen by pricks and their yes men. probably decent types, but made to seem like they have no voice compared to the detatched arses that run the club like a vaccuous enterprise for potential gain. It looks disgusting.
the bit where the minions try to get the PA sorted is vomit inducing, all that , and just for some nothing slob to give the thumbs up, or down. cringeworthy.

It was Rodwell stealing a wage and Grabban leaving that screwed them first series and Majas agent second series. As said on the show he probably got a million for getting him abroad on the cheap.

I didn’t like how the first series treated Rodwell
I know there are 2 sides to every story and it did not help him being injured so much but is there any footballer in the world who would just walk away from a £70k contract ?
The problem was not Rodwell - it was the club and the people agreeing ridiculous contracts with no relegation clauses.
The good thing about series 2 is they don’t hold back from showing how negligent the previous owners had been and telling supporters this too. It also comes through in series 2 how many of the old staff who were still there just don’t get it and the complete lack of commercial awareness or accountability that they were all part of the problem.
