Re: Nick Pope at his best this season
Interestingly from those saves there were very few, if any, 'for the camera'. Excellent reflexes and a.desire to keep the ball out of the net. Poland's keeper in 1973 got called a 'clown' for doing just that.

Re: Nick Pope at his best this season
His penalty save against Vardy in the home game against Leicester was the turning point in our season.

Re: Nick Pope at his best this season
Nick has been critised by some on here because he uses his legs. Imo it doesn't matter what you use as long as you save the shot.
Nick is the best goal keeper I seen playing for Burnley and I have been going on 50 years

A Goal Keeper is there to stop the ball going in the net...Top Claret wrote: ↑Wed Apr 01, 2020 1:25 pmNick has been critised by some on here because he uses his legs. Imo it doesn't matter what you use as long as you save the shot.

Hands, Feet, catch it, punch it or use yoyr Arse.... it doesn't matter ...
I agree with you about Nick being the best stopper we have had in years... (Tom H was bloody good but I think His Eminence just edges it...)

Re: Nick Pope at his best this season
Whilst I have given you a like for this, I believe the save he made earlier in the game to keep it at 0-1 was the game changer...at 0-2 we weren’t coming back.
Proper good keeper. One of the best three English keepers for sure, and CERTAINLY better than Pickford, and by some considerable margin.

Re: Nick Pope at his best this season
A great keeper is Pope, getting better as the season went by, not afraid to throw himself in where it hurts unlike Prickford, he saves shots with all parts of himself and i dont think it will be long before he is truly Englands number one, once we get rid of this terrible disease.

Pickford's not as good but there's no need for abuse like that.

Good one.
I didn't notice that. I thought you meant Pri, Pickford, was the terrible disease.
Not as funny when you have to explain it............

Can see Pickford losing his spot as England #1 next season and Pope being the clear 2nd choice keeper behind Henderson. Only danger is if Aaron Ramsdale continues to progress at the pace he is as he could well be 2nd choice challenging Henderson for the #1 jersey

Love having a keeper as MASSIVE as Nick Pope. Inspires confidence just by virtue of his physical presence and seeing him rise and take a cross can only be described as majestic.

Is that the Henderson who can’t get a game for his club?
Decent keeper and a candidate for the squad at some point in the future perhaps

Yes if you are referring to the one on loan to a club higher up than us who have also conceded far less goals than us?SalisburyClaret wrote: ↑Wed Apr 01, 2020 3:48 pmIs that the Henderson who can’t get a game for his club?

Re: Nick Pope at his best this season
I said at the start of the season I thought Henderson would make the Euros squad, and I do think he will be England No1 eventually, but I still think Pope is just ahead of him at the minute

Re: Nick Pope at his best this season
Only seen him once in the flesh but I thought Ramsdale looked pretty good for Bournemouth, he certainly has plenty of practice behind the Cherries defence.
For us older ones on here Popey reminds pretty much of Pat Jennings the way he uses his feet a lot.

Re: Nick Pope at his best this season
Those big one hand saves are fantastic. The one against Everton is reminiscent of Heaton against Zlatan. Both unbelievable saves.

Yes the one at Everton on 1m24s is the best for me. Point blank range but not straight at him, splendid.
