An UTC band or orchestra
Just a little exercise to pass the time, do we have the means and personnel on here
to form one or both of the above ?
Or maybe a choir perhaps.
Obviously I play the cello.

Re: An UTC band or orchestra
We could get a drummer or maybe a trumpeter like the barmy army to play at the turf and help create a bit of atmosphere. A few clubs have a drummer in the crowd and it always sounds really good and improves the atmosphere

If you get a drummer and trumpeter make sure they sit either side of you, couldn't think of anything worse. If all stands sang like Cfs we would have an atmosphere every game.

I play keyboard and guitar. Used to play drums too but there comes a time in every man's life when the drum kit has to go (sobs silently into a cushion........)

"If can't get a woman get a drum"
He even started drumming to the beat of the chant ... comedy gold.
But to be fair I wouldn't want the Drummer/Trumpeter any where near me ........... but if there was somewhere to house them (maybe on the top of the South East Corner stand)

I dont go on so that would be impossible. If anyone needs a drummer its the CFS to try and keep them in time. Having a 1000 Scatman John's responsible for creating the atmosphere isn't the ideal situationBarlickclaret wrote: ↑Thu Apr 02, 2020 11:19 amIf you get a drummer and trumpeter make sure they sit either side of you, couldn't think of anything worse. Re: An UTC band or orchestra
It never entered my head for a band on the matches, believe it or not. One of
those would drive me crazy.
What I was meaning, was a band to do gigs for charity or good causes - something of that ilk.
You leave us alone in The Bob Lord stand DA, we've had the best musical upbringing that will
probably never be repeated.

Bump
If we choose a key, and a tempo, and people record a few samples of themselves playing an instrument or singing, this is very doable.
C/Am and 120bpm keeps it simple...

Mandolin.
You could all download the free version of 'Protools' (Protools First) and set up a cloud share.

Cheers Doug, just trying to find a way for people to be able to upload to a shared folder. We shouldn’t need that much space, but my google drive is nearly full and I’m not sure whether it is possible to allow other people to upload things to it.

Re: An UTC band or orchestra
So here is a shared folder
If anyone posts a recording on this thread (you can upload using google drive, Dropbox etc and then sharing the link) I will add it to the folder, and once there are a few in there I can begin mixing!
Key ingredients are:
A beat (drums... or whatever else you can make percussive sounds from)
A bass line (Electric bass, double bass)
A lead line (piano, guitar, violin etc.)
Vocals!

The one I have is a WHD, size wise they all seem pretty much the same (except compact ones which my son has). I'd like an upgrade (only because I've had it a few years) but I'd rather upgrade my ukulele first.Funkydrummer wrote: ↑Thu Apr 02, 2020 4:07 pmI've been thinking of getting a Cajon. We need a song first though
I can work with pretty limited material: even something just recorded on a Claret's phone will probably be usable, so no-one should be afraid to contribute. The software I use (Ableton) is very good at matching/stretching samples and I will edit out any bum notes or recording wheezes.
I had been working really hard on a live show so I could do some festival gigs with my new stuff this summer; obviously that's not happening now, so it would be good to do something else and maybe even help with a good cause.
If anyone is reading this and is interested but would prefer to share anonymously: you can email a submission to

Re: An UTC band or orchestra
My flatmate had one of these when I was at uni (although I'd completely forgotten the name). We used to take turns with one on guitar, one on percussion.WadingInDeeper wrote: ↑Mon Apr 06, 2020 12:09 amThe one I have is a WHD, size wise they all seem pretty much the same (except compact ones which my son has). Do you want to be the first volunteer to record?
Re: An UTC band or orchestra
I could contribute in some way. I have been playing guitar for just under 3 years and have written quite a few (mainly rock) chordal progressions. I am from a musical family, with some members having gigged professionally for many years. We have recently formed a band, FAM, and have written and produced 2 tracks, which are due for release on 17 April. We don't gig; we just transfer files amongst ourselves, mainly using Apple ProLogic. I would be happy to submit a chordal progression or two to get things started. To check out the quality of our stuff, there are some short tasters on the page below. Scroll down to 'Give Us Yer Money'. The 2nd track is called 'Wake Up!!'. I wrote both chordal progressions and play rhythm guitar on the tracks. We have also set up a record label, through which we release the tracks.

One thing this lockdown has done, I've just spent the whole day learning stuff about Pro Logic X on the Mac, I would never have had time before.

Glad you like them, cf, and thanks for the feedback. Just 2 of us sharing the tasters on F/B has resulted in !,300 views each, and they are not yet released (17 April).cricketfield73 wrote: ↑Sun Apr 12, 2020 11:01 amI really like the sound of your band upanatem.

I'm happy for you to email a drum file to me, and I'll play a guitar chordal progression over it. I have Logic and Audacity but I'm not familiar with Audacity. I'm not sure, but I could try importing the Audacity file into Logic. If it does't import, then I'll play the progression into Audacity – it can't be that difficult to work out. Alternatively, if you post your drum file to the link that Hieronymous posted above, then it would be 'open' to anyone to have a go. As mentioned above, keep it to 120bpm.
This sounds like fun.

Just a thought... when you record your part, video yourself. Then we could put together a video that we could upload to youtube afterwards, if you're up for it. If it were to go viral, the proceeds could be given to a worthwhile cause.
If you are uncomfortable with being recognised, video from the neck down, or just display your instrument – the mind boggles! I have it on good authority that if you're videoing on a phone, you should video in landscape and not portrait.
