RIP Eddie Large
Eddie Large has died. Caught coronavirus in hospital while having heart problems.
Re: RIP Eddie Large
Ahhh, poor Eddie. Used to love Little and Large on a Saturday night when I was a lad (although it hasn’t aged well). Saw them live in Scarborough supporting Val Doonican before they’d hit the big time. We were on holiday and I was dragged along by my mum with my sister while my dad stayed in the hotel looking after my baby brother. They saved the evening for me!

Re: RIP Eddie Large
I think it was beyond heart problems, seems as if he was in the final days of his life in any case.

Re: RIP Eddie Large
His heart transplant failed a while ago . Very funny comedian /light /family entertainer and though, like much of the 70’s lot were lampooned by the trendier edgier comics ( often with good reason ) L&L had a bloody long career and had the almost lost art of telling gags

Re: RIP Eddie Large
Big City fan too was Eddie. He was the funny one of the 2. Never knew why he didn't try to make a go of it on his own. I know that's the double act, but Little really was not a great comedian, awful timing, and very wooden in their sketches, whilst it just seemed more natural for Eddie. RIP big man.

Yes, been ill for a while now.
Sorry the bloke's dead, of course, but I thought they were about as funny as an ear infection.
All personal taste, obviously, but very tedious for me.
Same with Cannon and Ball...

Any of us who we’re kids in the 70s/ early 80s would remember them fondly.

Re: RIP Eddie Large
Sorry to hear the news regarding Eddie Large but why has Lord Beamish put up a picture of Mike Brewer from Deals on wheels,/ THAT IS not Eddie Large.....UNLESS Mike Brewer has passed on as well, saw Little & Large at the Golden Garter in Manchester about 30 years ago when i worked at COLOROLL in Nelson, they were so funny on that night, they took the mickey out of the Andrex toilet advert that they did on a tv advert for that particular ad............RIP Eddie.
Re: RIP Eddie Large
Agree that growing up in the 70s you had to watch L&L. Great act with some good down to earth humour that all the family could watch. RIP Eddie.

Essential viewing for families growing up in the late seventies, early eighties.
At least he got to enjoy a few years of his beloved City at the summit.
God bless RIP Eddie. Lots of memories.

Re: RIP Eddie Large
I saw some of Little & Large shows recently, they where good, and certainly better than 90% of the dross on TV nowadays, but i'd still place them behind Morecambe & Wise, and The Two Ronnies as a duo.
15 million viewers can't lie though they clearly had a market.
RIP Eddie

and sense-of-humour failure.
Re: RIP Eddie Large
Not so much a sense of humour failure, more an idea that it would be in better taste to have one thread in sympathy for the departed and a separate thread to make jokes about the death?

Re: RIP Eddie Large
We played City in a pre season friendly mid 90s sometime. I was working in the Guest Bar in the Bob Lord. Shortly after I open I have 1 customer, a good 2 hours before kick off. That customer was Eddie Large, him and Syd were doing summer season in Blackpool and he had driven over to watch City. I spent a good hour chatting football with him, he was looking through the programme and didn't realise we had signed the likes of Dennis Tueart, Gerry Gow and Steve Daley.
He was clearly a huge City fan, very knowledgeable, very funny, accommodating to anyone who wanted to chat or have an autograph. He ripped the **** out of one of the guys who ran the catering company at the time, quite skinny accountant bloke who wore thick spectacles. Immediately he walked in Eddie likened him to Supersonic Syd and did what you would say was a short comedy turn with Malcolm unwittingly playing the stooge role. He only came in to cash up my till!
Sad to hear of the passing of Eddie Large, one of the nicest of the famous type of customer I served while working at the Turf. RIP Eddie

I remember Malcolm and I can see the similarity. I still laugh at their Binnie Tyler 'turn around bright eyes' sketch.

Re: RIP Eddie Large
I remember seeing them down the Cabaret Club in Rosegrove in the late sixties before they were famous. They weren't called Little and Large though, they went under the names of simply Sid and Eddie. They were a very good double act even then and you could see they would make it to greater things. RIP Eddie.
