Hardly surprising with the Italians, I hope that doesn’t sound racist

No it doesn’t sound racist - but what is it you are referring to exactly ?Burnley1989 wrote: ↑Thu Apr 02, 2020 9:11 pmHardly surprising with the Italians, I hope that doesn’t sound racist

It doesn't sound too unreasonable. The dates given are the end of May so if the current trend of new infections continue to decrease then in another 3/4 weeks some restrictions could start to be lifted. Games will probably be played behind closed doors but at least then can be played and not affect too much the following season.
If we follow the same route then that would mean the Prem starts back up at the end of June.

Re: Italian football - very ambitious
ironic as the Belgians have just scuppered their league.
Re: Italian football - very ambitious
Apparently the Belgians have to ratify it on the 15th April so there could be a u turn if necessaryWile E Coyote wrote: ↑Thu Apr 02, 2020 11:43 pmironic as the Belgians have just scuppered their league.

Rumour I heard is that the Italian league are going to settle games by having a behind closed doors secret bribing auction. Whichever club submits the largest bribe will get the 3 points.
To ensure nobody in Italian football loses out and that the money is not just wasted a referee will be assigned to each match and will get a cut of the money

What channel is Italian Footy on now? Premier Sports?
If it comes off subscriptions will go through the roof.

The Belgian league only has 1 game left though, they're just doing away with the end of season playoffs, so not that big a deal.

Indeed yes, in fact it would have been quite bizarre to effectively require a "pre-season" for all clubs in order to play one match per team.
Makes you wonder though whether the teams in the Play-off places might challenge this.

Re: Italian football - very ambitious
It's a big deal to UEFA,and they're threatening to withhold European slots from any member associations that end their campaigns early, that's a pretty big stick to wield, whether they could legally enforce that threat is debatable, but they're clearly firing a warning shot to domestic leagues, not to make snap decisions.
