So was I and I wasn't disappointed.
Thought it was good, particularly at the start when it showed them formulating the show.
Fast paced and held the interest.
Will be watching tomorrow.

Re: The Lockdown TV Thread
The Millionaire thing was good, definitely clever by the schedulers to run it on 3 consecutive nights, keeps the viewers from losing interest.
I didn't know the original title was Cash Mountain,no wonder they changed it.Strong performance throughout the cast, particularly mentions for Macfadyen,Clifford,Sheen naturally & Eliot Levy playing David Briggs who captures the mood perfectly, surely that scene with the American exec kneeling can't be for real, can it?
I'll certainly tune in tomorrow,i can see this winning plenty of awards,if we ever get back to holding award ceremonies anytime soon.

Another thing regarding Who Wants to be a Millionaire that I was told last year, randomly...
Chris Tarrant wasn't the first person to be asked to present the show. It was Jasper Carrott but he turned it down. He had shares in the company and instead sold them all for a few million quid.

I don't get the TV you guys have but do have Netflix, Amazon Prime, BritBox so get to catch up with lot's of old UK type TV just lately
Probably old for you guys but Started watching FIVE on Netflix, which is obviously British and not sure if was for normal TV or not, just a few episodes in but the best thing I have watched for a longtime.
My son has told me to download PLEX, has anyone got this, thoughts?

Yeah I enjoyed watching the first two tonight. Didn’t realised exactly what went on - had no idea the cougher was a contestant.
The only thing letting it down is the odd bit of ITV silliness and over-acting from the likes of the brother.

Some of the acting has been laughable even the two main characters can't act and the Major's wife has never taken a dog for a walk in her life

No neither did i until i read the preview, possibly explains why it wasn't a huge media story in the first few days after the event,9/11 dominated the news for weeks understandably.
It was tension building, even though you knew he was going to win the million, you still felt nervous watching, shows how well done it was.
I can't believe he didn't now Gail was Audrey's daughter in Corrie, but then if you don't watch it,i guess you wouldn't know.

The current, and final. season of Homeland is about as good as TV gets imho. The quality over the last few seasons has been fantastic. Probably now my favourite TV of all time along with The Wire, The Sopranos, The Shield and Breaking Bad.

Really liked the first couple of seasons of Homeland then felt it went off the boil. Heard a few people say that the later seasons are really good. Is it something I can pick up again without having to bother with the guff in the middle?Stalbansclaret wrote: ↑Tue Apr 14, 2020 10:57 pmThe current, and final. season of Homeland is about as good as TV gets imho. The quality over the last few seasons has been fantastic. I actually agree with you about the initial dip in quality after the Brody plot was resolved Rileybobs. Season 5 onwards are just superb though so maybe start there. From memory there is a bit of a natural break there too as Season 5 starts with Carrie in a new job in Germany. I’m on episode 6 of the current season atm and it looks like it could be a real cracker.

Regarding 'Quiz', I wasn't aware that they suspected him so early during filming. I thought it was more afterwards that they suspected any wrongdoing. Unless that's been added for dramatic effect.

Cheers. That sounds like a good place to pick it up. I prefer watching things from the start so would ideally watch from the beginning but even now I don’t have enough time for that. And it’s a bit soul destroying watching the poorer seasons for the sake of it.Stalbansclaret wrote: ↑Wed Apr 15, 2020 6:51 amI actually agree with you about the initial dip in quality after the Brody plot was resolved Rileybobs. Beat The Chasers starts on the 27th. Only on for the 5 days though, so guessing they're piloting it to see how it does.
Clearly copied from Beat the Eggheads, but will give it a watch.

Charles Ingram has tweeted that the series was " terrifyingly accurate" and "excruciatingly enjoyable".FactualFrank wrote: ↑Wed Apr 15, 2020 9:03 amRegarding 'Quiz', I wasn't aware that they suspected him so early during filming. Apparently Chris Tarrant went to their dressing room after they had won and after he had been informed of the suspicions by the TV crew and drank champagne with the Ingrams in celebration of their win.

Watched the 1st ep of the new Celebrity SAS:Who Dares Wins earlier (C4) it'll no doubt be on catch up,surprisingly Katie Price hogged most of the air time, but her theatrics apart they all came across pretty well, and certainly impressed me more than i expected.

Re: The Lockdown TV Thread
Came across this in the listings tonight,it's a repeat, but I've not seen it before, and i'm sure it'll evoke childhood memories,BTW did anybody ever complete an album,i never managed that feat.
Stuck on You - The Football Sticker Story (Episode 1)Today 11:40pm - 12:30am ITV
Brief synopsis
This comes from the producer who made the terrific Get Shirty doc about Admiral football strips, and it’s just as enjoyable. We revisit the golden age of football stickers, launched by newsagent Giuseppe Panini from his kiosk in 1960s Modena.
It became a huge playground craze. Middle-aged men recall the swapping frenzy: one remembers exchanging a fully made Airfix model of the Graf Spee battleship for a single George Best sticker.
The early glue-in versions were hilariously bad (look out for Bobby Moncur with his face obscured by a ball) but it grew to be a multimillion-pound business – and, with Robert Maxwell’s involvement, a sad fable on bully-boy capitalism.
SUMMARY
How four Italian brothers took a childhood obsession and turned it into a worldwide multi-billion pound industry - and the British upstarts who took on the mighty Panini to beat them at their own game.
My nephews indulge in this pastime now,so even in the digital age,it's still alive & kicking.

Watched a movie called FLIGHT on netflix. Tremendous film with Denzel Washington as an alchoholic airline pilot who crashes his passenger jet. (not a spoiler) Fantastic bit of film making for the actual crash but the story behind the event and the aftermath are enthralling.

I watched the first 2 episodes of After Life, last night, after watching Billy Connolly on BBC Scotland.
I laughed loudly with Billy, as always, however, I also laughed out loud with Ricky Gervais!
Not necessarily my cup of tea, however, life after death of ones partner is something to which I can relate.
He accentuates all the things that happen and they become hugely funny.

Binge watched 3 series of Still game yesterday...comedy gold
Re: The Lockdown TV Thread
Still Game I absolutely love. Watched every one of every series - many more than once.
Charlie Brookers anti viral wipe which was on around a week ago and still on iPlayer was brilliant - I’d highly recommend.
Enjoying the new lockdown series of The Ranganation - again on iPlayer.
Just ordered season 9 of Curb Your Enthusiasm on dvd so I can watch them again !
Lots of decent stuff on Netflix been watched - Ozark series 3 was one of the best things I’ve ever watched on Netflix. Enjoyed The English Game. Dead to Me season 2 was not bad and After Life 2 I thought was brilliant.
Enjoyed Normal People on BBC - 2 young lead actors were both excellent.
A Word on bbc is still a decent watch with Lee Ingelby from Burnley.

Further to our chat above I decided to take the plunge and watch Homeland again from the start. I know it's only 9/10 years old but I must admit, it's aged very well. I'm only halfway through the second series.Stalbansclaret wrote: ↑Fri May 22, 2020 11:32 amI don't know wilks bfs but do persist as the series is absolutely superb and by far the best thing I've watched during the Corona Virus era. Recently watched a series called Leftovers which I thought was great to start with but got a little too abstract. If you have seen this and liked it then try Dark, difficult to follow but I thought it was fantastic.
I stopped watching Ozark after season one and recently picked it back up and watched seasons 2 and 3. I was slightly underwhelmed to be honest. It had the potential but never gripped me.

i just watched the great escape on netflix, used to love that as a kid, but when you watch it now its a truly awful film.
its an embarrassment to see the english actors grinning like schoolgirls every time steve mcqueen appears. it was him, james garner and a hideous performance by james coburn playing an aussie that spoilt it. that, and the fact that not one single american was involved in the actual escape in reality. truly abysmal film.
