My old Cricket Field Stand seats .....

Post by Stalbansclaret » Sun Apr 05, 2020 4:46 pm

One by-product of being confined to home has been the chance to do those jobs I've been meaning to do but never got round to. Here is my now assembled garden bench made using two of wooden seats, and the three upright metal brackets, I bought from the club for a tenner or so in the fairly chaotic sell-off of these a while back. Had the base made up by a metal fabricator and the end product, duly painted and re-stained, looks pretty good I think.

Cracking job that, looks great.
I don't know what the capacity was but there's maybe a 3500-1 chance that one of those was mine in 1973!

EDIT - that's rubbish I wrote there, there's no chance it was my seat as that was to the left of the goal looking at the pitch and I've just remembered they only took out what was later to become the away section.

Nice job, if it was up to me though, I’d apply some stencilled numbers - just a bit of a nod to their original purpose

Make a good memorial bench at my local cricket ground when I pop my clogs

This is what happens when you start focusing on old seats turned into garden benches.....

Good shout ...I might have done that if I'd thought though I didn't get the seat backs..only the horizontal bits...so no way of knowing what the authentic numbers to put on there would be.

The seats look great. The decking needs a bit of attention though ( sorry )

Love that!

Anybody got any seats left that they’d sell on?
