Carpet Advice
Carpet Advice
I’m considering carpeting my lounge. The issue is, it a big room, over 15ft wide and 22ft long. Am I going to get a carpet that size?

Carpet fitters are geniuses. They’ll marry it up and you’ll never know.

Re: Carpet Advice
Went to Padiham Carpet next to Tesco looking for a 6m x 4m carpet to replace the god awful lamite that the previous owner of my new house had down - I really do detest laminate flooring.
They had a 'roll-end' ever so slightly over that and at a very reasonable price.
Carpet, Premium underlay, gripper rods and 2 doorbars came to £550 including fitting.
Worth a look down there.

Try Cottage Carpets on burnley road in Padiham.
Speak to Mark - always very helpful and really good quality service.
It’s all in the quality of the underlay - he’s done a few cracking jobs for my house and on business stuff to.

Re: Carpet Advice
Just had ours done 20ft x 30. With the 5m width obviously you'll have a join but depending on the texture design etc you'll probably not see it.

Re: Carpet Advice
Carpets are unhygienic and for lazy people who don't like cleaning

Re: Carpet Advice
As said above- you can get 5m wide carpet (though maybe a smaller selection than for narrower lines).
You'll just need c 7 meters of 5 meter wide stuff. 35 sq n, pay anything between about £5 and £30+ per sq m. Presumably you'd get underlay as well (say £3 per sq m).
Some shops quote for fitting included, some just for the carpet and you pay the fitters on top.
I refurbished my house completely a few years ago and bought 5 separate carpets (3 bedrooms, landing/stairs/dining rm, living room. There were 2 or 3 carpet specialists in my town & plenty of choice re price/quality and colours. Took me blinking ages to chose but I found the guys in the specialist small shops very helpful and honest.
I got not particularly expensive/hardwearing polypropylene carpets for bedrooms, better quality polyp carpet/underlay for stairs/landing and high wool % blend carpet + good underlay for living room. I used the fitters recommended by the carpet shops in all cases - they're not going to recommend people who mess up the whole job.

Re: Carpet Advice
Mist over the carpet if in doubt regarding quality, in some cases a sample would be sufficient before obligation/committal, deep piles can shed excessively when introduced to moisture.

Re: Carpet Advice
When I can finally open up the house to workmen again I’ll eventually be looking for new carpet in three rooms plus landing and stairs.
I’ve seen a couple of recommendations on this thread. Are there any others you could recommend?

Re: Carpet Advice
Anyone know somewhere that sells a roll about 5 foot 7 inches wide? Cheaper the better really and something that I can roll tightly and transport in my car boot. Thanks in advance.

Re: Carpet Advice
Minimum 2 ply yarn. Avoid wool and polyester, avoid soft pile. Aways go for polypropylene.

Agree completely. Over the years David’s firm have carpeted and floored all areas of my house. Top bloke and if you are in the Burnley area there is no one better.chipbutty wrote: ↑Sun Apr 05, 2020 11:14 pmhttps://www.facebook.com/Carpetmarketbu ... =3&theater
