Bloody hell, just got the news flash.
Get well Boris, didn't like you on iota but you've been doing well for the nation.
We can all beat this, if we follow the stay at home advice.

They're saying it's a precaution in case he needs to go on a ventilator. (Channel 4 news)
Condition definitely worsened, though.

You don't go into intensive care willy nilly, and certainly not in situations like this.

Yeah I too heard this. Although it was also said when he went into hospital that that too was just as a precaution.ElectroClaret wrote: ↑Mon Apr 06, 2020 8:23 pmThey're saying it's a precaution in case he needs to go on a ventilator. (Channel 4 news)

I suppose it was always a possibility, as it is for anyone contracting this disease, shocking nonetheless.
Hopefully he, and many others, will come out of the other side, fighting fit.

Anyone know what's happened to Pritti Patel, home secretary one of the top jobs, possibly even deputise for him, yet I'm sure she's gone AWOL.
Re: Boris Johnson moved to intensive care
Real shocking news. He has not helped himself by not resting up, now it is time for him to take it easy and look after himself first and foremost the country will still be here when he is discharged. Get well soon.

This doesn’t sound or look good. I hope this isn’t going to get any worse for him.
I couldn’t care less about politics ordinarily. But I believe he’s done a great job under even greater pressure.
He’s the only PM I have ever bought into.
All else I can say is the same as I posted last night.
Really hope he pulls through.

Raab was officially appointed to deputize if needed over a week ago.Pimlico_Claret wrote: ↑Mon Apr 06, 2020 8:26 pmAnyone know what's happened to Pritti Patel, home secretary one of the top jobs, possibly even deputise for him, yet I'm sure she's gone AWOL.
Patel I don't think has the right facial expression to deliver news in a global pandemic so not surprised she's been told to take a back seat.
Do hope the PM recovers, not something anyone should have to go through.

should make all those ***** who ignore the government advice to take stock finally. If he can be in need of such urgent care as a relatively young bloke, anyone can be.

He's in a London Hospital they will not name, does anyone know if it's NHS care? I'd be surprised if the PM did not receive private medical treatment.

Re: Boris Johnson moved to intensive care
Worrying news that's for sure, but many people older than Boris have come out of intensive care fully recovered.
It does suggest that he'll need to take a step back from leading the nation, even if and when he recuperates,he'll need some rest time to recoup his batteries again.
The BBC report suggests this may just be precautionary, but even so it's not good, and clearly his conditions have worsened.
Get Well soon Boris.

NHS hospital near Westminster, apparently. St Thomas’ I think I read earlier?CombatClaret wrote: ↑Mon Apr 06, 2020 8:37 pmHe's in a London Hospital they will not name, does anyone know if it's NHS care? I'd be surprised if the PM did not receive private medical treatment.

Re: Boris Johnson moved to intensive care
If he ends up on a ventilator I think the stats are pretty poor. About 80% recover with a normal pneumonia needing a ventilator but this bugger it is about 50:50 as they go on to get ARDS. Even those who survive take an eon to recover fully. I fear there is going to be another election soon for the next Tory party leadership. Feel really sorry for him, his partner, his siblings but most of all his parents with whom I empathise should the worst happen.
Normally one might have expected him to be on HDU but if he is actually on ITU then he must be near to needing ventilation.
Inchy may post as to how things go with HDU ITU in the present circumstances.

They've been playing it down all along though, they're clearly telling porkies now. You don't go into intensive care as a precaution.

If it's serious enough I think you tend to go straight to ICU and I'm not sure if they have HDU at the moment. When I had surgery I was taken straight into ICU and put on a ventilator for 19 days and came round in HDU but I suspect due to lack of space and beds it's different at the moment.
This guy sounds like he had similar complications to Boris, but looks like he's on the road to recovery.

52% of men in his age band who go into ICU with Covid, don’t come out. 48% do.

When people say Boris’s life is being ruled by those percentages, its meant to be darn hyperbole.

Many ICUs take level 2 (HDU) patients as sometimes hospitals just have level 2/3 areas rather than a level 2 ward (HDU) and a level 3 ward (ICU).
Either way it’s serious and I wish him all the best.

I’m a long time Burnley fan and been on this forum and Claretsmad for years, even though not as a major poster as such but I will be leaving after this all blows over, I thought as fellow footy fans we had a kindred spirit but I have read such foul, hurtful things on here, those that have written such ignorant, distasteful posts should take a damn good long look at yourselves.
