My thoughts exactly. Mike Ashley has put a price on Newcastle (a fair one IMO) and the Saudis and Staveley have dillied and dallied for 2 years now. Finally agreeing on pay half up front and owe me the rest? Just get on with it and do the deal. So many charlatans out there promising this and that.

If the proposed Saudi's home is worth £230m it sounds like there could be some serious money coming into Newcastle.

today the price of a barrel of oil (35 gallons) came down to less than a fiver at one point - it typically costs at least $30 dollars to produce a barrel - much, much less in Saudi but this is unsustainable for a country that has over $500 billion of infrastructure projects on hold at home

This should at least put an end to Arctic exploration and other risky explorations.

Closed on minus $15 dollars per barrel.
Now would be a good time to offer the sweaty socks another referendum

Lack of demand certainly at play here, but the Russians and Arabs have been at war with each other for the last year over the oil price. They’ve been flooding the market with oil to keep the price artificially low trying to break the other.

Further to Martin Samuels interest in this affair, he's reporting in today's Mail that Mike Ashley will trouser around £17 million even if the deal falls through, if, for example, the Premier League do not approve the deal, thanks to a non-refundable deposit paid up front by the Saudi consortium.

Nice work if you can get it.... :|

apparently only the Premier League can stop the deal now as a result of the Owners and Directors test

though the Premier League are under increasing pressure to block the move

Aye.
And it looks like they'll have a City-type amount of it to spend.

But as of yet not the City type of Executive team - that was absolutely crucial in their development and was missing when Abu Dhabi United first moved in

So, we will treat them the same as World Cup in Russia, Olympics in Beijing, World Cup in Qatar and, oh, so many football club owners who've all made their money with their own sweat and toil, integrity and honesty?

Khashoggi's fiancee isn't happy, now legally she and her lawyers probably can't block the takeover, but they can cause plenty of bad publicity for Newcastle, and the PL.

Rumours of a Saudi bid for Olympic Marseille - would prove a useful get out for all parties as there would be less controversy

This could be the most significant move yet in stalling the Saudi backed take over of Newcastle - The World Trade Organisation has ruled that pirate station BeoutQ is Saudi owned
