Albert Cheesebrough in the Leicester side facing his former teammates...he also went on to play in the 1961 cup-final against Spurs!

Re: ARTICLE: A Good Friday against Leicester
I never saw Albert play for Burnley - his final appearance for us had come in April of the previous year.
This was one we needed to win with both Wolves and Spurs having won.

Re: ARTICLE: A Good Friday against Leicester
Great read as always.
Slightly off at a tangent, but I wonder if the lad who won the marathon was related to Tommy Gildert, the strong man who, if my memory serves me right, once attempted to break the world 1 arm press-up record in the centre circle at half time?
Also, well done the Hatters!

I can’t find confirmation of any transfer fee...would it have been the famous ‘undisclosed’?ClaretTony wrote: ↑Wed Apr 15, 2020 11:12 amI never saw Albert play for Burnley - his final appearance for us had come in April of the previous year

£20,000
- found it in a CM article ‘profile by Tony Scholes’
Can’t find info anywhere else...where is that type of information available?

Another home game to come tomorrow and then off to Leicester two days after that. I wonder what today's managers would think of that schedule?

Re: ARTICLE: A Good Friday against Leicester
A vital win against a useful side with players like Willie Cunningham and a certain Frank McClintock. As for three games over the Easter period, clubs just got on with it and if there were any injuries, in stepped some one from the reserves. It was the same at Christmas/ New Year...didn't they used to play on both Christmas Day and Boxing Day?

I’m so pleased you’ve confirmed that. I was positive it wasn’t him.Royboyclaret wrote: ↑Wed Apr 15, 2020 12:13 pmThat's not Cheesy in the Burnley shirt........Anyone recognise the player?

Re: ARTICLE: A Good Friday against Leicester
Easter was tough. Back end of 72-73 season we played 5 in 11 days won them all without conceding. I think that is outstanding. They must have crawled off the pitch after the last of them.ClaretTony wrote: ↑Wed Apr 15, 2020 11:48 amAnother home game to come tomorrow and then off to Leicester two days after that.
