Burnley in the cup quiz
MDWat, jdrobbo and myself have been doing a quiz once a week - I was on question setting last week and the first round was about us in the cup. I know, with the aid of google, they are all easy but we don't have that option during the quiz. Just five questions in this first round as follows:
1. Name the player who scored the goal that subjected Brian Laws to defeat in his only FA Cup game as Burnley manager.
Gylfi Sigurdsson (Reading)
2. On the Brian Laws theme, who scored the three goals we conceded in the League Cup under his management?
Phil Jevons, Stewart Downing & Emile Heskey
3. In 2005, we were knocked out of the FA Cup at Ewood Park but who were the only four players to start that game who were still Burnley players at the start of the following season?
Brian Jensen, Michael Duff, Frank Sinclair, Micah Hyde
4. More recently and which five teams have we beaten in the FA Cup in the Dyche era?
Middlesbrough, Sunderland, Bristol City, Barnsley, Peterborough
5. Finally in this round, who scored our first goal and our most recent goal under Dyche in the FA Cup?
Sam Vokes & Erik Pieters

4. Barnsley, Bristol City, Sunderland, Middlesbrough and Peterborough.
I couldn't do the others without cheating. I can't even remember who scored the second against Norwich!

Re: Burnley in the cup quiz
1) Barnsley was the team who knocked us out,but i'm snookered on the goalscorer, stab in the dark Alfie Mawson
2) no idea
3) Micah Hyde,Frank Sinclair,
4) Sunderland,Bristol City,Peterborough,Barnsley,can't recall the 5th
5)Complete Guess first goal Sam Vokes,Chris Wood should be the most recent, unless it's being credited as a Norwich own goal.

Re: Burnley in the cup quiz
Sam Vokes correct, scored our first in a 4-3 defeat at Southampton.
That's questions 4 & 5 completed.
Micah Hyde & Frank Sinclair both correct on question 3

Re: Burnley in the cup quiz
So many horrible League Cup defeats in recent years but in this season we were beaten by a team from a higher division having previously won through two rounds

Re: Burnley in the cup quiz
Struggling with Laws one, we beat Morecambe, think Eagles scored, but no idea who scored for them.

Re: Burnley in the cup quiz
Ah! well at least i got a few before resorting to Google, the memory banks haven't completely dried up just yet.
A good workout for the brain cells,i'd have never got some of those in a million years, especially the Sigurdsson Phil Jevons, Stewart Downing & Emile Heskey ones.
I had Jensen in the back of my mind, should've trusted my gut.
Cheers for that CT
