Eddie Cochran
Today marks 60 years since his passing.
He died in a car crash near Bath aged only 21, absolutely no time to go. Having done so much already
This man changed music today as we know it - Paul McCartney played his song 'twenty flight rock' as an audition to a band called the Quarrymen - which obviously renamed the Beatles and the rest is history.
Cochran inspired countless other bands and artists, with a plethora of groups covering the famous song 'summertime blues'.

Re: Eddie Cochran
Wow...60 years...brings back some great memories of my teenage years in Burnley .He was a great guitar player..a session man long before he became famous..21...no age at all. Those opening riffs to his two biggest hits still get to me but besides those two my favourites were Weekend and Somethin' Else.

As long as none of us are 3 steps to heaven.
Re: Eddie Cochran
Somewhere in my loft, unless my sister and brother in law 'borrowed the collection', I have 'weekend' in the 45s largely bought by my mum, off a friend of my sister, who sold her lots of the songs that have lasted until now, as timeless, in favour of his next purchases.

Re: Eddie Cochran
I had Twenty Flight Rock by Cliff Richard.
Never knew that about McCartney or that itwasa Cochrane song.
I still remember the words as well I think.

Too young to remember him but no doubting the quality of them riffs, timeless and instantly recognisable.

Couldn’t agree more. You’ve inspired me to pop downstairs whip my vinyl copy out and stick it under the needle.RingoMcCartney wrote: ↑Fri Apr 17, 2020 10:20 pmNo music collection is complete without Eddie Cochranes greatest hits.

Imagine, back in the day, being a teenager, listening to that for the very first time. There was no such thing as the Beatles, Stones, Led Zeppelin and all those "rock n roll " bands that came after, and were influenced by that sound. When the needle dropped and you heard that, it must have been mind blowing. !
