BFC academy strategy
BFC academy strategy
This video is quite an interesting insight into Burnley's plans. https://youtu.be/PcphxlJq2uY
There's a couple of points worth mentioning.
1. Barnfield rather than Gawthorpe seems to have now become an area near Padiham.
2. Dwight Mc Neil seems to have been overlooked as an Academy success story.

Re: BFC academy strategy
Club staff are not allowed to use the word Gawthorpe so to people coming in to do interviews they will see and hear it as Barnfield.
Not sure when Dwight could have been mentioned although there should have been some provision in the piece to get him featured.

Re: BFC academy strategy
Gawthorpe sounds much nicer than a Barn in a Field
Re: BFC academy strategy
One step away from changing our name to Barnfield FC and our ground to The Tim Webber Stadium.
And then onwards with their plans for world domination

Barnfield employ lots of people locally.Including loads of sub- contractors..Good for the local community.
Re: BFC academy strategy
Hi CT, are you aware if the Barnfield sponsorship is an X year deal or whether it's lifetime? I've not heard or been able to find much out in that regards, not that I've tried hard or it matters, just curious.ClaretTony wrote: ↑Fri Apr 17, 2020 4:44 pmClub staff are not allowed to use the word Gawthorpe so to people coming in to do interviews they will see and hear it as Barnfield.

I know they negotiated the cost of the project to incorporate the sponsorship/naming rights

They can call the training facility what they like...will always be Gawthorpe for me. Similarly with Turf Moor.
