Re: Joe Hart
Besiktas has been rumoured for several months,I've no idea when Derby's interest started, can they afford his wages?,i know he's a free agent, but i'd have thought most Championship clubs would be looking to implement cost-cutting measures if anything.
From BFC'S POV i'm just glad he'll be off our wage bill,we can't afford luxury bench-warmers,and that's what he's been this season.

I'm no financial expert at all, but imagine a footballers wage across the board are going to have to be more realistic in the immediate future.

Re: Joe Hart
This is the one position where you do need a luxury bench-warmer.
Would you want B P-F in the nets for a long spell should Nick get injured?

Re: Joe Hart
You'd hope so,but I've heard that statement for about 10 years, and wages just kept spiralling,at Hart's age surely what he'll want above all else is to play regular first team football, even if he has to step down a level,Derby will need a keeper as they've only got 2 on their books, and one of those(Ben Hamer) is ooc in May.Buxtonclaret wrote: ↑Sun Apr 19, 2020 11:44 amI'm no financial expert at all, but imagine a footballers wage across the board are going to have to be more realistic in the immediate future.

From what I have heard young Jensen is a good prospect and in 12 months could be pushing to be No 2

It's become a weekly feature now - who can we link Joe Hart with this week?

Re: Joe Hart
I would very much doubt he'll be pushing for number 2 and I'd be very surprised if we didn't bring in another goalkeeper should Hart leave.warksclaret wrote: ↑Sun Apr 19, 2020 12:19 pmFrom what I have heard young Jensen is a good prospect and in 12 months could be pushing to be No 2

Yes, that's why we've signed him and he has far more experience and pedigree than Pope did when he signed.Tricky Trevor wrote: ↑Sun Apr 19, 2020 11:51 amWould you want B P-F in the nets for a long spell should Nick get injured?
Re: Joe Hart
I’ve heard the same from within the club. They have very high hopes for him.warksclaret wrote: ↑Sun Apr 19, 2020 12:19 pmFrom what I have heard young Jensen is a good prospect and in 12 months could be pushing to be No 2

Yes, especially if the alternative is Joe Hart.Tricky Trevor wrote: ↑Sun Apr 19, 2020 11:51 amThis is the one position where you do need a luxury bench-warmer.

Re: Joe Hart
The Leeds Prime documentary may have affected the views of some fans who watched it.
Dyche would not have brought him to the club if he had any doubts.
He is already an established international, with a proven quality goalkeeping coach fully behind him.
He is young and as long as he's a good learner I am confident he will be a good replacement if and when Pope leaves. Hopefully not for another season or so

Re: Joe Hart
That's fair enough i understand that to an extent, but if you want to keep Hart on,then that'll impact our ability to fund wages for outfield players, there's going to have to be a trade-off somewhere, especially if finances are squeezed next season.Tricky Trevor wrote: ↑Sun Apr 19, 2020 11:51 amThis is the one position where you do need a luxury bench-warmer.

I haven't seen enough of B P-F to assess whether he's ready to step up to the 1st team, that call will be made by Sean and the coaching team, but given we spent a reasonable amount on his services,i can only assume they feel he's up to the task if required.
The same questions were asked when Pope came in to replace Heats, and that didn't work out too shabbily did it,given his record i'll trust in Sean to make the right call, ideally Pope will have another season like this one and be an ever present, but as the last season showed freak long-term injuries can occur.

Not sure if he’s ready yet but you’ll have seen him more than me.ClaretTony wrote: ↑Sun Apr 19, 2020 12:23 pmYes, that's why we've signed him and he has far more experience and pedigree than Pope did when he signed.
I’ve seen him be excellent for NI and very poor for Leeds. I’m expecting him to come through but when is for others to decide.

Re: Joe Hart
I have probably seen less than him than you have because I've seen him play one U23 game for Burnley live and seen him play one international on TV. In the summer of 2006 we signed a far more inexperienced goalkeeper from a team being relegated from the Championship to League One. He was only in the team because the first choice goalkeeper had been banished for speaking out against the owners. I knew little about him but clearly Billy Mercer had seen enough to impress him and I would expect that to be the case with BPF. To be honest, I don't watch much of Leeds but he's better than the goalkeeper they've got in now.Tricky Trevor wrote: ↑Sun Apr 19, 2020 1:28 pmNot sure if he’s ready yet but you’ll have seen him more than me.

Pope was third choice for a season when he first came in, same with BPF.
Re: Joe Hart
Positive that he is now the established no 1 for Northern Ireland as they have a pretty decent no2 in that lad from Norwich - McGovern.
Re: Joe Hart
Why would anybody want to go derby. Goin backwards every season

I agree with that.ClaretTony wrote: ↑Sun Apr 19, 2020 12:23 pmYes, that's why we've signed him and he has far more experience and pedigree than Pope did when he signed.

Re: Joe Hart
If my facts are correct Pope had 77 league appearances to his name when we signed him,33 at Championship level during his Charlton days, and 33 appearances at non-league level.randomclaret2 wrote: ↑Sun Apr 19, 2020 2:27 pmPope had played a lot more first team football when we signed him tham Peacock Farrell has
Bailey Peacock-Farrell had 40 appearances for Leeds all at Championship level, and has played regularly for Northern Ireland, against the likes of Germany & Holland.
So going off the stats there was little to choose between them, accept of course Pope has made the nr1 jersey his own at Burnley, and he's 5 years BPF senior.
One interesting aside is both spent time out on loan at York earlier in their careers(hope that hasn't spoilt any of CT'S quizzes) i just thought it a curious fact.

Re: Joe Hart
Bestikas get linked with every former “star “ in Europe ,Karius went there after Liverpool hounded him out, he’s popular too but still a loan player . Hart will need a big wage cut .
Quite bizzare the “ inside “ info about young Jensen on here. He’ll make a living in the game I’d say but can’t see him as a prem keeper. If Pope goes BPF takes over end of,though I’d be amazed if an another experienced keeper didn’t come in if JH leaves .

Where do you see Legzdins in all this, CT? We seem to have loads of goalkeepers, with or without Joe Hart.ClaretTony wrote: ↑Sun Apr 19, 2020 12:22 pmI would very much doubt he'll be pushing for number 2 and I'd be very surprised if we didn't bring in another goalkeeper should Hart leave.

Along with Hart, Legzdins is out of contact this year so unless both we and he is happy to be 3rd choice then that’ll be 2 less

What a load of cr4p, how do these reporters get the job?
He starts of saying would Burnley allow him to leave, then further down the article mentions he’s out of contract!
