Piers Morgan

Post by ElectroClaret » Mon Apr 20, 2020 8:49 am

Do you like his combative style of interviewing/reporting?
Having a real go at the Beckhams this morning for furloughing their staff, basically saying they're putting their hand in the taxpayers pocket when they should be standing any expenses themselves.
(Dave and Vicky are estimated to be worth in the region of £340 million)

Is he one for the list?
Or is he right to call this out?

When I see his name as the 1st line I always expect the next line to be

"sucks a horses p***s"

You know you are getting near rock bottom when the phone hacker starts having a go at something you have done.

This is how the wealthy stay wealthy. Legal loopholes and accountants who are ridiculously well payed for finding them. Plenty of millionaires will have done the same but yet again it is a footballer getting the kicking.

The job of an interviewer is to get answers, he fails miserably on this every time, because he interupts so many times you never get to hear the answer.
He may have some good points but they get completely lost in his rants

When some people can't find a way to get the right attention they crave, their only option left is to be controversial.

Going to have to agree with Grumps,.
If he did let people talk more , his points would still get across, but they can get lost in his ranting.

What I do think is a Positive, he is the only one who will ask the difficult questions other people and channels will not.

Thanks :D miracles do happen
His main aim seems to be to trip up the people he's interviewing, which is fine, but he'd have more chance of doing that if he let them answer, give somebody enough rope etc. The best interviewers do it, he's not one.

Do you not think his question about deaths were valid rather than controversial.
There has been apparently over 80 deaths of NHS people and the gov stating it’s 42.

There official figures of care home deaths 215, but claims the real figure is 7,500.

I will accept the official figure will always be lower due to lag in checking the data. But I would suggest the Gov is being slow on purpose.

He makes some valid points. I never said he didn't. But 90% of the time, he's controversial so it gets people talking about him.

I'd prefer it if he said so many valid things, that that's why people talk about him. But that's rarely the case.

Whilst he’s right on this occasion and it’s an abuse of the system generally he’s an odious character who craves attention in my opinion ( big Twitter users generally do). I don’t watch him so he is irrelevant to me.

He has a point, a bloke from CIPD was on the news questioning whether large employers with big cash reserves should be using government money.

To single out the Beckhams though is unfair; it is not right to name and shame. There is also the question of separating their personal wealth from the finances o their businesses.

I have Morgan down as a professional gobshite based on the few occasions I've seen him for a few minutes and his reputation. But then I've just seen Jeremy Vine who appears to be broadcasting for three year olds / with all the intellectual rigour of a three year old.

But then anyone on ITV / Channel 5 in the morning is airing to an audience on whom quality would be wasted.

He is right to interrupt when the politician is deliberately avoiding answering his question, instead they answer the question that they would have liked to be asked, However he interrupts even when they are trying to answer

Even you must admit that so few deaths in care homes is a bit strange, especially when doctors in the past have said a virus can spread through a care home like wildfire!

I like Piers Morgan in a morning now as he is the only frontman who asks the Politicians hard and difficult questions and it is not his fault that they don’t answer the questions but give answers avoiding the question.
Whereas the nice guys on BBC ask questions and when they don’t get an answer say thanks very much for being on the programme.
They should have Andrew Neill asking the questions
All about opinions. Imo

I've seen his rampages recently

Shouting loaded questions at MP's knowing full well that in many instances those answers do not yet exist because these crisis hasn't even been going on long enough to have that type of data yet; then interrupting them mid-answer with another loaded question to keep throwing them off balance. Its not an interview style, its bully boy tactics but in fairness its exactly what the labour activists want to see so they are throwing their support behind him despite hating him up until now.

The cynic in me can't help but feel this is a targeted attack on a government that refused to go on his show during the election campaign which is was very vocal in airing his anger about, every, single morning.

I went through journalism school with him in the mid 80s. He was a pompous a-hole then and has just got worse. Made the most of knowing some very influential people to climb the ladder to edit national newspapers but got found out pretty quick at that level. (He never liked me after a didn't pick him for a 5-a-side competition team :) )

Hugely popular and surprisingly good morning show host .He’s not afraid to stick it to either side . His gentle slide into champagne socialism has been a very successful monied one . From oily ( but very well connected ) gossip columnist to national broadcaster . Ultimately he’s a reformed crook who happily and very illegally ramped shares , faked pics of British soldiers “ committing torture “ and was a very big phone tapping player , amazed he dodged prison . Clarkson chinned him a few yrs back too

ITV have a pool of tabloidy types ranging from the dross of eamon holmes, holly willoughby, and schofield, to the equallyvile morgan.
The channel is like the Sun newspaper, it is intended to make people who soak that nonsense up feel like they are getting to grips with topical news in the morning. They aren't .
The interviews he conducts are never meant to cause shock, they are just vehicles for him to shout down any interviewee, and the audiences adore him for it because they are in the main dim.

He did ask a valid question to the Minister for Care Helen Whately as to why she found the situation amusing when she couldn't stop smiling whilst being interviewed.

I can’t stand Whately - she is arrogant and comes across poorly when I have seen her on tv.
But she was very clearly not smiling at the 4,000 deaths in care homes and Morgan was being his usual obnoxious harassing self.
If she has this very unfortunate habit of having that goofy look on her face then she’d be advised to stay out of the media for a few months - especially being interviewed by this tit.

His style is to bully and shout at people particularly public servants. He has demeaned some very well respected people who won't go on his programme again. He doesn't often front up to people who can and will fight back and you can see he changes his style to suit. He does make the odd good point but his bullying style achieves nothing. He should spend a bit of time watching the guy on "Hard Talk" who has the ability to ask absolute crippling questions in a calm professional manner.
