Well done mate, had a few good head to head all ins in the last 3 but you just had the edge so happy you went on to win
I got about 6 top hands heads up, it seemed nailed on I'd win, he made 3 great folds before a couple of trap checks and him biting proved his downfall.

Played the iffy hands hard and the great hands slow, and he hung himself twice.

Gives me some play money, think theres a few $5 games coming up over next few days, low stake mini games for people to play as and when they can.

Going to keep Friday as the bigger $11 freezeout game, then end if each month a $22 effort.

Judt need a few more members in club so in the smaller midweek games we have easily 6-8, yet potential to get 15+ for the Friday night games

I'll keep my eye on whats going on but Friday will usually be the best day for me so will keep on with them providing they continue.

Might be odd ones in the week Im free to have a go at and will sign up if and when. Hope we get another decent freezeout next Fri

I had a game with some mates last night on a private table, first time we’ve done it online. There were 5 of us and we face timed whilst we played. We used Poker Stars and played with free chips but each had a buy in with a winner takes all by bank transfer arrangement.

It was enjoyable but a couple of issues:

- The game was v quick and there was no way to slow it down
- We couldn’t pause the game to grab a drink or nip to the loo, you had to sit out a hand
- There was no way to manually raise the blinds or have pre-arranged points where the blinds would be raised

Do any of you have any suggestions of either a more suitable platform than Poker Stars? Or otherwise would it be better to set up a real money tournament on Poker Stars, would this enable us to change any parameters? If so could you please advise the best method and any commission to the house etc? Your advice would be appreciated, cheers.

You can change the speed at which the blinds go up and the amount of thinking time you get when you set up the game. You still can't manually control it in game though in reality you have around 90-120 secs before you are first timed out and then you might just miss the odd hand.

For example my laptop threw a wobbler last night and it took me about 4 mins to sort out so I missed a load of hands. I was about 200 or so chips worse off but in the scheme of things it wasn't a major disaster.

Cheers. Is this just when you play for real money? We didn’t seem to have the option to change this when we played for free chips. 90-120 secs would be plenty, the free format only gave 15 seconds which wasn’t always enough thinking time and meant that even a trip to the fridge was likely to result in a missed hand.

How does the commission work in your format? Apologies for being lazy, appreciate I could road test this but it would mean depositing money etc and trialling it.

I've never played on the free money bit so yes it could be just a feature of the real money games. Commission is 10% so the £5 game would have a buy in of £5.50 with 50p going to the site.

Some of my mates play the minimum value game say 55p so only 5p commission and then agree a buy in and do bank transfer outside the system but for 10% that sounds more effort than its worth

Cheers, we tend to only play for £5 but try and get a couple of games in. Another problem last night was that we all had 10,000 chips which turned out to be far too many in relation to the minimum bet, and like I said the blinds didn't increase so the game lasted too long.

I'll definitely suggest we use the paid one then - cheers for the advice.

Starting chips is another thing you can flex when you set up a paid game so sounds like thats what you wanna try.

Get signed up to Macca's club and have a game with us lot one night

You can tailor a game to suit, all depends on how many players play to be honest.
Took us a few times to get fit right, but we are getting it pretty much spot on now.

Games lasting about 2.5 hours now for our £10

Last night we had 11 players in our game, but have had 18.

You and your mates are more than welcome to join our club , and if a scheduled game takes your fancy jump in theres usually 2 a week, varying in buy in, chips, blind spend and rebuy/freezeout.

Our rough set up is

$11
Freezeout
5k chips
10 minute blinds
5 min break every 55 mins past the hour.

There's loads you can change though to make the game and its legth how you prefer.

If anybody fancies a free game tonight, can I recommend BFlush Poker. No downloads required. Just go to bflush.co.uk and register. BFlush is pretty new and a UK based business looking to establish itself so any support is appreciated.

Poker In Pendle have a free tournament starting at 8-30pm with £50 to be won. First place also wins a seat to their £10 + £2 tournament tomorrow night.

Boxer Connor Benn (Nigels lad) endorses the site and often joins in the games.

Everybody is welcome :-)

That's a big no no and you're likely to have your money confiscated if you do this. It's strictly against their rules to have more than one account.

Was a good game, thought I was in the money sitting pretty with 5 left and 2nd chip leader.

However if poker gods arent on your side its irellivent what you have.
I knew once I'd gone Patie would win, he knows how to play, the other guy was poor, calling 4bb with Q7 off

And as for this claret 1 guy, he'd probably do very well financially if he worked the odds out and played them, as he's got some good fortune, if you can win 80/20 and 70/30 against pots, you've got a gift.

Same time next week hopefully.
Seem to have a steady dozen players now every week

Patie was another one who thought it was a good idea to put all his chips in with Jack high.

I believe Claret1 does ok at the pokers, he's pretty good where odds are concerned and understands the difference between pre flop and post flop. I heard he has cashed in WSOP and WPT events, so he must know what he's doing.

👍

Claret1 called 4bb pre flop from 2nd chip leader with 2 left to play behind him with 7 9, that doesn't tell me he knows pre flop odds, he cannot be infront, and purely playing to hit as is massively behind and out of position.

I recalled a few strange showdowns, where the calling was not that of experienced player, flat calls with high cards hoping to hit etc, but I dont have poker tracker to make notes of these plays, so have to try beat with odds and hope they dont get lucky.

It will come again, I'm only around $140 up now from home hames since it started, would be double if they were against experienced players who understood betting and ranges. Too many play with pretty looking cards, and theyll catch them a few times, then disappear for a week or 2, so it's hard to draw money from them regularly :o

I dont think Mackey will play again, he text his mate saying he was buzzing with 3rd, it was his biggest win to date at about $35.
I can see him withdrawing it and savouring the moment.

It wasn't 4BBs, it was a minraise, I had the button and 97s is a perfectly good drawing hand which is unlikely to be dominated and in an ideal situation can get me a full double up, especially against a player I have good read on.

I assume the second paragraph is referring to the hand where I called you down with AK, blind v blind when it was clear that you were probably bluffing given the board texture and bet sizing.

To be fair, you do seem like one of the most competent players of the group, but you have a lot to learn and I'm not giving you any more free lessons ;)

Touche

Although calling 800 when 100/200 blinds with 2 players behind you with 79s isn't great, youd struggle to find an experienced player playing that hand, as you shouldn't be infront, and you weren't ;)

You cant have that good of a read on me, you've called 3 big pots/all ins and been massively behind.

Anyway keep playing it's good to have some healthy competition around the table, it stops me day dreaming.
But remember you've hit 3 times now when only having between 17-30% chance of winning, that cant continue against top players like myself, you will get caught.

It's fine in home games when the game is a fun low stakes game between locals type, but you will spend more than you win in the long run playing 9 7 like you did last night, it nearly got you knocked out, and you dont want to be going out on hands like that as people will cotton on regards your aggressive bullying early on, it's been noticed by a couple who are newbies so might give you calls and out bingo you.

That's enough lessons, I need to teach them you for your chios/cash next week 👍

Have a good week Paul see you next week 👍
( the games there now ready for next week if you want to register)

How much is the prize pot usually and how is it divvied out?
We vary the games, but usually theres 10-14 players and buy ins are $11, $13.30 or $22, the % is pre determined by the software.

If 2 paid places its 70-30 split
3 places 50-30-20 split

The highest 1st place has been $170 but that was in a rebuy with add on game, we've stopped doing them, usually 1st is between $60-$110 but it's mainly a game to kill time and have a catch up rather than a money maker. We keep it low stakes as more players the better.

Games last about 2 - 2 and a half hours, not bad for a tenner.

It was 200/400, I can show the hand history if you want.

Not sure about that. I remember the AQs against your AK last week, but pretty sure I was doing the shoving, not calling. Can't remember the other two.

Keep bumping the thread and I'll likely join one game....although it looks like there might be a few sharks around the table (you and Tall Paul) so I won't hold out much of hope of winning cash

Got to say it's been a welcome addition to the week having a game of poker amongst friends and fellow clarets. The more players every week the merrier. Keep pushing and advertising it MACCA it's going well.

Cashing around 60% of the time has also helped 👌

I'm no shark I've not had a top 3 for 3 weeks now.
It's that TallPaul he's upped the quality and I'm always on his table playing before him

If you'd bet at any point before the river I would've folded.
