Online Poker
Since the lockdown i've started playing a bit of online poker for the first time in years with friends and a local group.
Not sure if anyone would be interested but I have created my own poker club on PokerStars and I can config it for an UTC's private game if there's enough people up for it
Plan to keep it low stakes (£5 entry, £5 rebuy, £5 addon) so its for fun for anyone to get involved and thinking bout setting it up for 8pm Fri night.
I'll leave this thread for a few days and if there's enough interest by Thursday i'll post the details to join my club and register for the game
One thing to note that for a private game you need to be on a PC or Laptop so wont work from your mobile of Ipad/tablet device

Try to run various games, usually 2 a week, sometimes $11 freeze outs, sometimes $5 rebut and *add ons
Sometimes.
I just get feed back and sjust accordingly as it's a time passed and fun game so mix them up to suit and people can opt in or out as they please.
Re: Online Poker
Details below, its ironically called UpTheClarets as there was a few posters off here showed interest, and 90% of players are from/support Burnley ...

Re: Online Poker
We've got around 20 members, so games range from 6-14 players depending on the stakes and the night.
If you're a new member to pokerstars put TWENTY in the promo/bonus box in your first deposit and you'll receive £20 worth of tokens/gifts and you'll get around £20+ back in cash
Be great if a few sign up
Devils Ad - put yours up and I'll join your club too, you can join several. Then can always hop on your tables if dont clash with the ones I arrange

Re: Online Poker
I have daily games set up on other peoples clubs and only use my own for a small group of mates from time to time.
Was going to add an UTC game just cos I thought in the current situation people might appreciate it but im not precious so if you already have one up and running Macca sounds sensible to use that
Happy to have mine as back up if Macca isnt about or we want to limit the game just to people on board but if people agree with me might as well just use yours
You about Fri to set up a game if the interest is there Macca?

Re: Online Poker
Yeah, add to my club I'll accept once home.
I usually do a friday and Tuesday one
Hoping to do a bigger tourney at end of month.
Been finding it hard trying to do a tourney that suits all as some like higher stakes freeze out, some rebuy etc.

Re: Online Poker
Yep I was gonna keep it low stakes so people who arent big poker players can join in for a bit if fun.
My mate did a big freezeout and started everyone with 10k chips and it was a nightmare and went on for hours - not easy to get right
Hopefully can get a few on here added as thought it would be good to play with people you interact with rather than just randoms

Yeah I'd happily do 5.50 with a rebuy or an 11 freeze out.Devils_Advocate wrote: ↑Tue Apr 21, 2020 12:52 pmYep I was gonna keep it low stakes so people who arent big poker players can join in for a bit if fun.

I never rebuy anyway so I'm easy.
Have you applied to join my club?

Re: Online Poker
Happy with either freeze out or rebuy as well. Unless someone is really bothered set it up for whichever
Assume you start with 3k chips?

Re: Online Poker
Yes its usually a 3k chip start, tonight I have done 5k, but a rebuy and add on, so people can spend as little or as much as they like, and also gives those who don't rebuy, or are new, some value for money.Devils_Advocate wrote: ↑Tue Apr 21, 2020 1:35 pmHappy with either freeze out or rebuy as well. Done the blinds at 5 minutes too, as last week we had 15 players so was about 2 hours 45 mins for your $11, which I thought was decent, as it paid 3 place too.

Games arranged for tonight and Friday both 8pm, and registration is now open, I look forward to seeing you round the table ( metaphorically speaking )
Re: Online Poker
Last nights game was a good one, around 13 players I think in total
Prizes
1st $110
2nd $66
3rd $44
Fridays is now set up, it's a $11 feeezeout so no rebuys.
Prizes wont be as good I dont think, but looking at around 15 players if anyone interested. So should still be
75
45
30
Based on 15 players
Details are in the above screenshot, start time is 20:00, all welcome.
Nice to see Claret1 playing off UTC, not sure who it was off here, but he made 4th, a very good effort

Re: Online Poker
On my Monday game I was in last 6 and got all in before flop 2 hands in a row and lost them both to go out rather than be up with the leader.
The two hands were
JJ v JJ - got beaten by a flush
AA v JJ - got beat off trip J's
I've had plenty of bad ones but to get those two back to back on final table was pretty hard to take!!

Re: Online Poker
You can sign up for Pokerstars and then for Macca's poker club and you can observe the game if you want. I know what Im doing but I only play for fun and wouldn't call myself a good player so just give it a go
If you just take it slow early doors whilst you get a feel for it then £5/£10 can last you over an hour easily and there's no better way of picking it up than being involved
When mates of mine have played for the first time they get up a list of poker hands in order of value to help them understand how good their hand is
Give it a go mate, its a good break from the boredom of lockdown
Re: Online Poker
More losers than winners!
Re: Online Poker
Yes theres an observe option, if you go to schedule it will show you fridays game planned.
If you log on when that's on you can select tourney lobby, then select tables, and it will let you observe a table.
There will be 3 at the start until it whittled down to a final table as people go out.
So just pick one to view, or pick 2 and watch 2 at once, I usually watch another table in the comp, whilst I play just to watch if I'm not involved on my table.
**IF ANYONE MAKES THEIR FIRST DEPODIT ON THE SITE**
Put TWENTY in the promo/bonus box, itll give you £20 of tokens/tickets to use to play free games for real cash.
You get credited in real cash if you get anything from them.
Most players got between 10-$25 back so well worth it.
Also let's you learn without using your own money if you use the tickets
Re: Online Poker
Like everything in life ian.
Do it for fun and in moderation it's fine.
$11 or £9 for 2 hours of fun with mates/fellow clarets represents food value for me. And 3 from 12 make profit to reuse to play again.
I've had a 2 2nds and a 3rd, and have the next 6 games paid for with the prize money.
Hopefully get out of lockdown not actually having spent anything.
And I was a player who played only once every 3 or 4 months with half a dozen mates for a catch up and beers.
Re: Online Poker
Ah, if the total input is fixed beforehand then I agree Macca, you know the price of your entertainment.
I envisaged the input prices as the starting point, not the total.
No real harm, if you are not playing and losing every night!

Re: Online Poker
That's the beauty of tournament play. You only lose what you buy to get in to the game (plus rebuys and add-ons if you choose to).
If you prefer to watch as a neutral, I would recommend watching the televised tournaments where you can actually see each players hand. That way you will learn so much more about strategy, etc.
Anyway, where do I sign up?

Re: Online Poker
No, its fixed entry fee and set prizes.
I've been doing 2 tournaments per week, and only half a dozen probably play both tournaments.
I'd say we have had a decent spread of people who have been in the prize money.
Also personally, I'd rather any money I "lose" whilst having fun/passing time go to either friends, acquaintances or fellow clarets.
