Has anyone noticed...

Post by FactualFrank » Wed Apr 22, 2020 12:06 pm

Fewer joggers compared to the first two weeks of lockdown. It reminds me of when the gyms are full in January, but then might as well be turned into a nightclub for the rest of the year.

I thought you were about to say you'd seen loads of old people jogging for a second!

I "let" a nice lady jogger go down an alleyway in front of me when I was out for my exercise yesterday... that was my treat for the day ;)

I do love the old "yoga pants" or whatever they're called

Saw an old bloke on a new push bike at Pike Hill the other day. All new gear on too, wobbling all over the road. Said to the Mrs " If covid doesn't get him a f**king car will"

I spotted one of my connections on LinkedIn moaning about the amount of cyclists and Joggers out and about, big fat sheet metal worker he is. ‘Where are all these lazy bastards for the rest of the year’

My reply - The gym, which happens to be currently shut

Only seen the occasional jogger while out on my walks but a lot of other walkers and plenty of cyclists.

Bit like the tennis courts during Wimbledon fortnight and the couple of weeks after! At least that won't be happening this year. Still, even that would be better than bloody vintage snooker replays!! :(

I’ve seen loads of other walkers and other cyclists whilst I’ve been out and about on my wanderings and rides. There seems to be a fair level of camaraderie between people, too. It’s very rare not to get a nod, smile, or cheery wave(all at safe social distances). The fine weather has been a help, too.

I usually see a fair number of joggers and cyclists, but I've definitely seen more in the past few weeks, especially joggers who appear to have taken up a new interest and are trying to go from couch to 10k in one day.

Probably because they’re trying to cram a days worth of activity into an hour. I’ve been a runner all my life and think it’s great to see! Good on them!

Love seeing your larger people who are obviously just getting into running, brilliant that they’re making the effort.

They best not come crying to me when they die of Covid
You have to reach old age yet,so don't you worry about us oldies ,worry about getting yourself to an old age .

funnily enough when we go walking ,all the oldies observe the 2 meter rule and the ones who don't are the Young ones, who walk around in groups and don't move out of the way.. W@nkers ,so don't come crying to me when they die of Covid Tarky.. Hope you aren't one of them :D

I was out on my daily cycle round Cleveleys yesterday afternoon and saw a fellow Claret walking up Sevenoaks drive near my house. I thought I was the only one in this area, first sighting in 2 years.

I've noticed a lot more out with their shorts on riding their motorbike and d-head boy racers out.

I bet not even 5% of them are going to-from work or the shops.

Really? I’ve noticed totally the opposite. The only people who have failed to keep their distance whilst passing me are the older generation, be it through daftness or lack of awareness I’m not sure.

Thinking about it, maybe the oldies are struggling with the guidance being in metric?

I walked over to Barley today and it was quiet. The locals had gone through the effort to put signs up everywhere telling me I shouldn't be there, despite it being public land.

Winds me up does this kind of busybodyness. There’s a park at the top of my street and I’ve never seen any dog muck in there but recently someone has decided to put home made signs up on the gates telling people to pick up their dog muck. Obviously as a responsible person I pick my dog’s poo up regardless, but I no longer pick my own up just to prove a point.

Some daft old bint had a go at me about the 2 metre rule when - the path/grass bit I was stood on (I later measured) was FOURTEEN METRES wide - they don't seem to mind breathing down your neck at Co-Op though, do they!
