Re: Player pictures around Turf Moor
I'd include Joey Barton to that now... only played a handful of games in comparison, however he proved quite instrumental in this years promotion.

Re: Player pictures around Turf Moor
Joey Barton hadn't been a Burnley player when the voting was done. The cut off was end of 2014/15 and we got the result. You can't go changing things now.

I'd quite like some murals and legend related artwork on the walls in the concourses in the JH and JM stands. It's certainly improve the art dekko breeze block!!

Seem to recall you were surprised that neither Brian O'Neil or Dave Thomas made it to "the wall"!!
I am sure I voted last year. Are you having a dig at me CT

Not having a go at anyone, just pointing out that a vote's a vote.
As for O'Neil & Thomas, I was personally disappointed that O'Neil wasn't selected but I'd have been amazed if Thomas had been.

Re: Player pictures around Turf Moor
How big are they going to be? The same size as the ones near the CFS on the wall outside the Bob Lord stand?

Are they auctioning them off?ClaretTony wrote:That mess will be coming down - these player pics will be 2m x 0.9m
If not they should at least put them to use and decorate the interior of the ground. Over the bemreezeblocks either on the stand or concourse!

Plan is to start on Harry Potts Way, just past the away fans entrance and move round the three stands right to the end of the Longside Stand close to the players' entrance. They will be placed in chronological order. A number of them have been sponsored by the various supporters clubs.

What's happening with the old ones?
Re: Player pictures around Turf Moor
I think most people agreed that the whole history of the club should be covered hence some real favourites dipped out. I'd forgotten Stevo wasn't included. Bit like not being included for England.

Re: Player pictures around Turf Moor
Update:
Following discussions yesterday - the plan is now to put these player boards up in three phases, the phases being the three stands. The Bob Lord will go first with the 12 players from the two earliest eras so they will be Jack Yates, Jerry Dawson, Bert Freeman, Tommy Boyle, Bob Kelly, George Beel, Harry Potts, Jimmy McIlroy, Jimmy Adamson, Brian Miller, John Connelly and Ray Pointer. It's going to be touch and go but we would like to see them in place for the opening league game of the season.
This all came from an idea put forward around 18 months ago when I asked on the message board for suggestions and a team was set up to try and move some of the ideas forward. Thanks to bf2k, DCWat & MDWat from this board who have been involved along with two other supporters and Dave Baldwin from the club. Other club staff will now be involved to work with Creation Signs who are doing the work for us.

Re: Player pictures around Turf Moor
Finally some news - the first twelve on the Bob Lord Stand could be in place ahead of the home game against Arsenal. It's been very difficult trying to find suitable photographs for some of these players but we are hoping things will be ready to go later next week for the first twelve players who will be:
Jack Yates
Jerry Dawson
Bert Freeman
Tommy Boyle
Bob Kelly
George Beel
Harry Potts
Jimmy McIlroy
Brian Miller
Jimmy Adamson
John Connelly
Ray Pointer
Just a sneak preview as to how they might look.

So are they all going to be black & white with the claret accented?

May be wrong but surely the bloke to the right of the rattle is Albert Tatlock.
Happy days - being cracked around the head with someone's rattle. The big ones with claret and blue halves and white handles were my favourite.

Re: Player pictures around Turf Moor
Where possible - some of the older ones have proved really difficult. No pics of either Bob Kelly or George Beel so they are going to be in England and Lincoln kits simply because there weren't any. The only pic available of Harry Potts was in Everton kit so one is being used of him in late 70s when he was presented with a manager of the month award.wilks_bfc wrote:So are they all going to be black & white with the claret accented?

It should get easier with the more recent players.

Re: Player pictures around Turf Moor
Can understand difficulty in obtaining older pics but may seem odd to have pics of "other" teams
I'd have thought somebody would have been able to "create" an image in those instances

Re: Player pictures around Turf Moor
Before we put out the vote to supporters we checked with the club that they had suitable photographs for all of the players. We only included those for which they said the had to avoid any problems. Then, we found out they didn't have them, by which time the vote had long been concluded.wilks_bfc wrote:Can understand difficulty in obtaining older pics but may seem odd to have pics of "other" teams

Good show.
I hope that Jimmy Adamson was alright after being hit on the back of the head with that rattle.
No wonder they were banned.

Re: Player pictures around Turf Moor
I would think there would be copyright issues even so long after the event were the Everton shirt change to a Burnley one for example.

Re: Player pictures around Turf Moor
This year's program has our shirt photoshopped onto a number of players for the front cover shots. Hendrick was an example against Hull.
Hopefully they could do the same for these. It'll look a bit naff if a player is wearing another club''s shirt.

Been left in the hands of the club's designers and this is the best they've been able to come up with.burnmark wrote:This year's program has our shirt photoshopped onto a number of players for the front cover shots. Hendrick was an example against Hull.

Looks brilliant but why no club badge on the shirt?
Re: Player pictures around Turf Moor
Why have they coloured Jimmy Adamson's shirt in purple though?

Re: Player pictures around Turf Moor
Quick Update
You will see in post 67 above that I suggested they might be in place for the Arsenal game. As you will know, that didn't happen.
They are getting closer though but there has had to be one change made to the list of names. Unfortunately it wasn't possible to find a suitable image of Jack Yates and so he has had to be replaced with the next highest on the vote from the pre-war era. That is George Halley.
I'll keep you posted as to when the 12 will be placed on the Bob Lord Stand.

Will there be scope to add more if/when they do the other end of the BL stand up?

Re: Player pictures around Turf Moor
Hopeful of the Bob Lord next week and I would suspect the rest of them will not take too long then. I would hope by March/April we could have them all done.
Hadn't intended saying anything until I got the date confirmed so was surprised to see Oo-George bump this thread tonight.
This site is sponsoring one of them. To keep it fair, I think because everyone might have wanted Jimmy Mac, they were drawn out. I'm pleased we got someone that I actually knew very well - Brian Miller.
