Healthy, roof over your head, food on your plate, financially safe enough to have very few worries. Everyone’s different though!

Re: Happiness
One of the greatest songs ever written
Happiness
More or less
It's just a change in me
Something in my liberty
Oh, my, my
Happiness
Coming and going
I watch you look at me
Watch my fever growing
I know just where I am
But how many corners do I have to turn?
How many times do I have to learn
All the love I have is in my mind?
But I'm a lucky man
With fire in my hands
Happiness
Something in my own place
I'm stood here naked
Smile and I feel no disgrace
With who I am
Happiness
Coming and going
I watch you look at me
Watch my fever growing
I know just who I am
And how many corners do I have to turn?
How many times do I have to learn
All the love I have is in my mind?
I hope you understand
I hope you understand
Oh yeah,
You know, you know, you know, you know
You know, you know, you know, you know
Got a love that'll never die, no no
(You know, you know)
Happiness
More or less
It's just a change in me
Something in my liberty
Happiness
Coming and going
I watch you look at me
Watch my fever growing
And I know
Oh, my, my
Oh, my, my
Oh, my, my,
Oh, my, my, my, my, my
I got a love that never dies
I got a love that'll never die
No, no
Oh, oh, oh, oh, I'm a lucky man

(Don't think, don't, don't think I'm lying)
It's just a change in me
Something in my liberty
(Don't think, don't think I'm lying, I'm trying, come on now)
It's just a change in me
Something in my liberty
Oh, my, my

Re: Happiness
Burnley 1989 had it with “ Healthy, roof over your head, food on your plate, financially safe enough to have very few worries.“
I’d add to that low expectations and a large, loving family.

Makes you feel much older, sublime the blind parade
It wrecks me how they justify their acts
Of war, they assemble, they pray
Take good care of what the priests say
'After death it's so much fun'
Little sheep, don't let your feet stray
Happiness is easy
(Joy be written on the Earth)
(And the sky above)
(Jesus, star that shines so bright)
(Gather us in love)
Guilt upon their shoulders, how well the cause evades
Infecting your religions, claiming pacts
It's easy to shoulder the blame
Happiness is easy
(Little ships of Galilee)
Happiness is easy
(Standing on the sea)
Happiness is easy
(Jesus tried to love us all)
Happiness is easy
(Be a friend to me)
Try to teach my children
To recognise excuse before it acts
From love and conviction to pray

Re: Happiness
Happiness is a state of mind and it is simply whatever makes you feel that way. The problem is it never lasts. All we ever have is right now, the past is gone and the future hasn’t happened yet, neither really exist. Now, right here and now, is all there is and all there ever can be. Zen tells us that desire is suffering and to wish for that which we have not got or to try to hold on to what we have is the cause of all pain. Live now. Enjoy what you have. Don’t grieve for what you don’t have or what you no longer have. Accept life and don’t think that some power is going to look after you or save you. Such a power does not exist.

In other words can I, Houseboy the Zen master, f**k your wife, have your job and live in your house, steal your car etc.
Re: Happiness
Live in the now, there is no past or future is a nihilist philosophy. One has to plan, sow seeds farm and harvest etc. prepare for winter, educate, finance and oversee the production of goods, Zen is drivel.
It's utter nonsense to diss the word 'desire', it's damnation of natural forward movement.
Let's see the zen master have simple acceptance of a kick in the goolies.
And notice how Buddhists attempt to usurp drug experience, Hindus too. Only only has to go the local head shop to see that is the case, with Buddha statues etc. and the Dalai Lama not only trying to usurp Glastonbury but also Bradford City because of their strip colours.
Just accept change (for your pounds)... 'You won't find happiness in material things' Be Here Now' 'There is no future, there is no past'
Err... Yeah Bob (or two or three)
Sorry, Zen, did you say something material possessions?
Accordingly, what a miserable existence you live.

Re: Happiness
'On second thoughts...' 'I regret' 'I'll have a re-think' 'sorry' 'We'll improve the' 'we'll build a better'
These words have no value to Zen Buddhists.
Samuel Beckett's compassionate epithet 'You failed, no matter; fail again fail better' has no value to them.
It's utter nihilism to take from you what is yours in order to represent it as theirs.
... And totally anti-intellectual i.e. no a priori nor a posteriori or empirical thoughts.
