Sunlight kills Covid virus
According to US scientific evidence today
It is unable to survive sunlight.
It is more tethal indoors rapidy multiplying.
Fake news or good news.
Reality or an attempt by Trump to allow Americans outside and appear as the good guy not the one denying them their civil rights

Why is it then that two Mediterranean countries are the worst hit in Europe?

Re: Sunlight kills Covid virus
Old news, was covered last week and also back in March.
Something else to keep in mind. Trump called Hydroxychloroquine a "Game changer" - yet the evidence suggests this is actually worse for patients who take it.
While there may be something in it, when a theory suggests something can help, Trump suddenly acts like it's the saviour, without putting his brain cells into gear.

Trump also seems to be keen on researching the use of injecting people with disinfectant.Surely that can not be right.
Re: Sunlight kills Covid virus
Even though it doesn't kill the virus it is important to get enough vitamin D either through supplements or sunlight.
Not having enough vitamin D isn't good and staying inside too much can lead to bone pain.

Whatever Trump suggests, he should be keen to test it on his family and himself first.

Doubt he's had to do that very much since High School.

I have always thought it’s best to engage your brain ( if you have one) before you speak. Some of these flyaway comments are incredible but becoming the norm for Donald.

Trump has finally come out and said that he models his presidency on his idol, Homer Simpson. He hopes one day to become the real life Homer Simpson but unfortunately his skin treatment is creating an Orange glow rather than a Yellow one. The brain training app though is certainly helping the transformation though.

Sunlight kills the virus on external surfaces only.

Do we really need another Trump post. Surely 15 pages on another headed Donald Trump is enough for a Burnley FC site !

Can't believe that. Apart from a few days over the last month here in the North of Italy it has been on average between 20 & 25 degrees and very sunny.Top Claret wrote: ↑Fri Apr 24, 2020 9:01 amThe UK as has more sun than Spain and Northern Italy put together over the last 5 weeks.

Latest scientific update suggests that it cant survive boiling point even if you have already contracted the virus. This has given Trump a great idea which he is just getting his staff to run buy a group of witch doctorsboatshed bill wrote: ↑Fri Apr 24, 2020 1:37 pmI've heard that it doesn't survive at temperatures above 26 degrees. Edit: Just wanted to clarify to FCBurnley that I made this up and Trump hasn't really suggested boiling infected people. I would hate for FCBurnley to cause harm to himself or his family because of my little joke

I always knew Donald Trump was "unconventional" and it's one of the reasons many of his supporters like him so much but surely even his most ardent fans can't defend his conduct during the COVID crisis. He just sounds like a total berk every time he opens his mouth.

Bergamo's average temp is 8 degrees daytime, mins 2 nighttime, in February. I don't know if this year it was like a Mediterranean summer in February - but I doubt it.

Can we all just agree that Trump is a knob and let USA get on with their own issues rather than having to dissect all their political wankerings.

I just hope that no one tries any of Trump's remedies.
The following link is a doctor going through a British Medical Journal paper on Vitamin D. It is unlikely to prevent COVID-19 but it can help fight against the 'acute respiratory tract infections' that are causing many people to need critical care following the onset of the infection.

The temperatures in Northern Italy were only around 13 degrees C during the period when the virus took off. Spain was similar.

Re: Sunlight kills Covid virus
According to this thread we have some real experts who I presume have all read this scientific evidence. Just how Trump.has got invloved is quite a mystery in itself.
One thing for sure there is one government to blame for the spread of this virus and it isnt the one in the USA.
I have always thought that a combination of a scientist and a politician is a potent and disastrous mix and so its proving. We need to get out of this lockdown now.

Re: Sunlight kills Covid virus
regardless of anything else there were many hypothesis on heat/humidity killing the virus in early March as they viewed it as similar structure to other viruses that did breakdown due to heat/sunlight. Let's be sensible and remember that hot places have A/C's inside homes, cafes bars etc. so if transmitted on surfaces there the ambient temp regardless does nothing, unless you are on the beach/around the pool most days.
Several posts on this subject weeks and weeks ago and this is in regard to the thread title only.

Chain smoking and they sprawl all over each other when they say hello. The Spanish smoke like crazy, never mind the Greeks.
My point was smoking lowers one's resistance to any viruses.

Re: Sunlight kills Covid virus
Some scientists believe they may be something in tobacco that helps prevent coronavirus. In France they were experimenting using nicotine patches as a cure. Sounds mad, logically you'd think smokers would be the hardest hit.

Re: Sunlight kills Covid virus
Show me some evidence. Edit: I was told today that this is evidently true, so I stand corrected, but I still think not smoking is a good idea.
Stopping smoking is the best thing people can do along with taking zinc and magnesium supplements if they want to avoid viruses, so why should C-19 be any different?
Italy's ageing population is the main reason C-19 was prevalent there, and it would be interesting to see all the deceased people's pre-existing conditions, as it would everywhere.
Regarding Greece, it has a lower density population than Spain or Italy when you take account of the 'lived density' for those countries rather than the more traditional way of expressing population density. Spain contains more than 505,000 1 km squares. But only 13 per cent of them are lived in. Thus the 'lived density' for Spain is 737 per square km rather than 93. Spain could claim to be the most densely populated European country using this measure. [Source: The Conversation}
So to summarise. Italy and Spain have high 'lived density' populations, Italians and Spanish smoke a lot of cigarettes and they are somewhat tactile when they say hello.

Re: Sunlight kills Covid virus
Singapore has one of the highest population densities in the world. The first COVID-19 case was confirmed here on 23 January. Since then there has been 14,400 cases of COVID-19 confirmed in Singapore, and a total of 12 (twelve) deaths (number includes those in care homes). Compare that to the UK: first confirmed case = 29 January, almost a week after Singapore, total number of confirmed infections = 157,149, total number of hospital only deaths = 21,092 (twenty one thousand and ninety two).
More than 21,000 deaths in the UK (not including those who have died outside hospitals) linked directly to COVID-19, compared with a total of 12 in Singapore.
The pandemic response plan that Singapore implemented in January was "borrowed" from the UK - basically test, trace and confine. Unlike the UK, however, Singapore implemented the plan. What staggers health experts here is why the UK had an internationally respected pandemic response plan, and then just ignored it.
I suspect the "why" will come out eventually. It will have to, otherwise the same mistakes will be made the next time around.
