Re: Name the players
Martin Dobson - Burnley
Tommy Smith - Liverpool
Both correct. Still the other 2 players and the horse as unfortunately Owen Coyle is incorrect

Looks a bit like Ian Callaghan, Smith’s team mate? Left foreground.

Re: Name the players
Crerand, Book, Callaghan all incorrect.
A clue, Bfc is on to it earlier, the 4 players are captains of the 4 North West teams who won the leagues the season the photo was taken.

Re: Name the players
I'm guessing the horse won the grand national that year (NW connection). No idea with horse racing so could only guess the obvious, Red Rum.

Re: Name the players
John McPhee - Bolton Wanderers
Red Rum - Stables based in Southport
Both correct. Final player to get now but it is very tricky I think.

Re: Name the players
Without googling I always thought Red Rum had a white flash but have now remembered it was a nose band
Re: Name the players
That was the closest Smith ever got to Dobbo.

Re: Name the players
We played in Warwick Rimmer's testimonial at the end of that season, the night after the John Angus testimonial and the two teams ran round the pitch perimeter with their respective trophies. I seem to recall Bolton having a then young but still big, fat centre half in their team. Now I wonder who that could have been.
