Hilarious moments in our games
Two spring readily to mind
1. The Blackpool fan of the month being interviewed in front of our fans and his subsequent arrest.
2. Iain Hesford in goal for Maidstone and his banter with the Cricket Field end. Having taken a bit of stick about his weight, he turned to the crowd whilst the ball was at the other end of the pitch and said “Time to get the heavy roller out” and proceeded to roll about in the six yard box. He also said “If you can’t beat our lot, you don’t deserve to be in this division.”

Re: Hilarious moments in our games
Was there a game possibly against Derby when we were losing on a severely waterlogged pitch and Steve Davis threw the ball into a deep puddle and more or less turned to the ref and went 'durr ' ?
As mentioned on a thread recently, towards the end of the last game in the 4th div against Wrexham when one of their players got tackled by a Burnley fan. ( I also remember being on the pitch after that game and seeing one of the goalposts being moved and wondered if some enterprising lads were nicking them !)

Re: Hilarious moments in our games
23rd November 1992, we're away at Maidstone Utd, who were actually playing at Dartford's old and very small Watling Street ground.
Rumours were rife that we'd made a decent bid to sign on-loan Forest goalkeeper, Andy Marriott on a permanent basis, but that Brian Clough had turned down the approach. Andy's doing his warm up with the Reserve keeper, in front of the Burnley fans behind the goal ... " Oi Andy, tell that Cloughie to f**k off ! ", Andy turns round with a huge grin, " You f******g tell him ! " ....
Within 6 months, he was keeping goal for Forest in the League Cup Final against Manchester United in front of a full house at Wembley !

Re: Hilarious moments in our games
I’m ashamed to say I laughed at Bradford (Glen Little game) when a policeman took a pie to the face, thrown from the back of the Burnley stand. Unfortunately the poor chap just turned at the wrong time and wore it full on the face. The slow motion comic timing of it all got the better of me. I felt particularly guilty laughing because the pies were burnt and rock hard that day and it would have hurt as it exploded on impact. The police got their own back though, they were unnecessarily heavy handed that day and kicked several innocent people out that I saw. I’m glad I’ve matured and would now tut at such things.

Craig Hignett getting more and more wound up about being called a ******* whilst playing for Coventry, reacting and being sent off.
Re: Hilarious moments in our games
Can't remember who it was against, maybe it was in Inchys season as manager but I used to stand right at the front of the Bee Hole directly behind the goals, we used to take the mick out of the goalkeeper every game, usually to no reaction, however on this one occasion my mate got the goalkeepers attention and flicked him a V through the railings, the goalkeeper then turned back toward the pitch and started flicking 2 sneaky V's at us behind his arse, when he turned back round there were loads of us flicking him V's and then for the rest of the half the goalkeeper would do every sneaky V at us he could think of, pretending to rub his cheek with a V sign, coughing into his hands with 2 middle fingers sticking up etc. At the end of the half when he grabbed his towel from the netting he said "that was fun" and waved goodbye to us all. We all waved back.
Edit- Another one, Preston Away I think, mid 00's, there was a rather rotund chap in their stand to the right of us getting absolute dogs from our fans, "who ate all the pies" etc, he too was rubbing his face and giving us V's, it was all a good craic and then the chant came up "Have you ever seen your dick?", he looked down, looked back up again and shook his head.

Haha I think I was sat a few seats in front of the bloke who did it, he’s quite a well known fan and I used to see him at most games when I attended a lot of the away fixtures.Stanbill05 wrote: ↑Mon Apr 27, 2020 4:58 amI’m ashamed to say I laughed at Bradford (Glen Little game) when a policeman took a pie to the face, thrown from the back of the Burnley stand. The player taking the throw in, in front of the Bob Lord and the ball came down off the roof and knocked the hall
out of his hands as he was about to throw. I’m sure this happened unless it was a dream.

More gallows humour than hilarious but BFC fans trying to get the game called off, when Citeh were 4-0 up after what felt like 10 minutes, and the Longside kept singing 'that pitch is dangerous' due to the heavy rain.

Richard Keogh own goal vs Derby. The entire game was funny. It was like we didn't even have to try to win they just put it on a plate for us.
Rodriguez vs Watford away. Such a fluke you couldn't help but laugh.

The famous Barnet away game- nightmatch in Div 4 championship season. The police officer who was Rowan Atkinsons' twin brother. He stood on the touch line facing us, all packed on that terrace, to a man, singing, Mr. Bean, Mr. Bean, Mr. Bean. It was one of those when I suppose you had to be there, but even his colleagues were pi**ing themselves.

Two memories of "badly-behaved" Burnley fans at away games. Rocky passively resisting ejection at Northampton and the tug of war at Chesterfield where Norman Jones was the rope.

At Birmingham City, one of there I guess teenage fans was trying to evade the police to the right of the away end. In trying to escape the police he started running across the seats that were covered, he was doing well he made it about half way down the stand before comically toppling and face planting.
Ouch and he was arrested!!!

The Birmingham supporter at Saint Andrews who tried to escape arrest for fighting with his own supporters by running away from the police on the backs of the chairs.
Watching him helplessly gaining momentum before his inevitable graceless fall was brilliant.

Ted McMinn was a laugh a minute. I think it was at Blackpool and he was feigning injury then opened one eye and winked at the fans.
Re: Hilarious moments in our games
Remember an 'entertainer' in front of the away end at Torquay before the play-off 1st leg .. he was very good
doing tricks on an eight foot-ish high bicycle, until a couple of Meat & Potato and Steak pies knocked him off
balance .. think he concentrated on the home fans after that !

Re: Hilarious moments in our games
The game against Steve McClaren's Forest when we were 4-0 up at half time.
McClaren must have given the Forest lads what for at half time and sent them out early. Any sort of fire in the belly and keenness soon evaporated as there was some sort of pitch entertainment going on and all the Forest players could do was stand about watching, and no doubt thinking the wally with a brolly had screwed up again.

Andy Cole bolting from the dugout and chasing the Cardiff centre half up the tunnel during the game whilst play was still going on. Closely followed by coaching staff from both benches. A proper Benny Hill/Keystone cops style chase!

Re: Hilarious moments in our games
I don't remember we the details specifically, I just remember it being very funny...
I think we were away to Wigan, year 2000ish and one of there home fans stood up and started giving the Burnley fans verbals and hand gestures and so on.
Now, I can’t remember what exactly happened I hope someone will remember it for me, but I think he went to sit down and his seat had flipped up and he fell on his arse. Something like that anyway.
I remember the away end just roaring in laughter.

Sat in the Bob Lord, 94/95 I think and the opposition had a free kick inside their half. A bloke near us shouted to McMinn "Drop back, Ted"...."TED"..."DROP BACK"...."TEEEEEEED.....
DRRROOOOOOP BAAAAAAAACK!...he got louder and louder, Ted looked up in our general direction and started to jog backwards....."Thanks Ted!", Shouted the bloke. Tickled me and my dad that one.

Re: Hilarious moments in our games
The Jamie Hoyland one was when we were all crammed in like sardines away at Bristol Rovers and Selwyn I think it was wanted a pie but was unable to move to the pie stall behind us.
So he asked Jamie Hoyland who was one of our subs to get him a pie from another pie stall on the other side of the pitch. And Jamie walked round the back of the goal with I think the game still going on and bought the pie and gave it to Selwyn

Michopolous being told to take the ball back 10 yards for a free kick, then as soon as the ref was happy and turned away, he ran up and but the ball back on the same spot. Even he was wetting himself.
