Food Home Delivery
Food Home Delivery
Morning All
Just a quick one. The company I work for, Birchall Foods, is now offering Home Delivery to all BB postcodes. We've still got Call & Collect available. We're based on Burnley Bridge Business Park in Hapton.
I just thought I'd pass this on in case anybody is isolating and struggling to get food, or if you've fed up of waiting in queues at the supermarket.
It's good quality stuff!

Re: Food Home Delivery
I have my Tesco delivery arriving this afternoon - it's like gold dust. I gave my sister my login details so she could also do her shop and then collect.
For anybody with Tesco, log in on your phone at midnight (obviously add the Tesco app), but be quick. When I did it, all slots were gone by 12.03am

Re: Food Home Delivery
I think it must depend where you live. I've not had a problem getting an asda delivery each week, and Tesco usually have some spaces, and I can assure you Iam not up at midnight, they seem to add slots at various times during the day.FactualFrank wrote: ↑Tue Apr 28, 2020 9:10 amI have my Tesco delivery arriving this afternoon - it's like gold dust. Re: Food Home Delivery
I've had one Tesco delivery (two weeks last Friday) and am struggling to get another. They go on day by day at midnight and by a minute past they've all been taken.
Re: Food Home Delivery
Keep trying during the day, they certainly add extra slots during the dayClaretTony wrote: ↑Tue Apr 28, 2020 10:08 amI've had one Tesco delivery (two weeks last Friday) and am struggling to get another. They go on day by day at midnight and by a minute past they've all been taken.

Suppose it's where you live like grumps said the wife is getting slots at all times of the day...I presume you get your deliveries from the Burnley Tesco....we get ours from Dundee which is about 20 miles away...strange how it worksClaretTony wrote: ↑Tue Apr 28, 2020 10:08 amI've had one Tesco delivery (two weeks last Friday) and am struggling to get another. Re: Food Home Delivery
Yes, from Burnley. Mon 18th May went on at midnight last night but by the time I got on (12:01) they'd all gone. 19th May will go live at midnight tonight. I'm not sure how I managed to get the one I did.

CT. it might be worth you trying the birchall foods link supplied, if they turn out okay you may prefer them. I'd do it for you if I lived in your area. We've never been able to get a Tesco slot where we live.

Re: Food Home Delivery
This is how it looks if I try to book a Tesco delivery - and this is the Flexi-saver slot, meaning you're more relaxed to what time it arrives (which normally has more available slots).
Re: Food Home Delivery
Not sure that's right, I tested it when there were slots available, changing to the flexi saver showed none available. I also read the same on the Martin Lewis site.FactualFrank wrote: ↑Tue Apr 28, 2020 10:29 amThis is how it looks if I try to book a Tesco delivery - and this is the Flexi-saver slot, meaning you're more relaxed to what time it arrives (which normally has more available slots).

Re: Food Home Delivery
Not in my experience and I book every 2-3 weeks. It's the other way around. Due to people working, they prefer to book it at a 1 hour window, so those slots go quicker. Flexible slots is more for people who work from home, or are at home longer.
I'm referring to pre-lockdown by the way.

Re: Food Home Delivery
Use Morrisons and apart from the 1st week of lockdown not had an issue since. People can book a slot but then have 3 hours to complete their order, if they're booking and then forgetting the slot will reopen, best to keep trying each hour and something will turn up.

Re: Food Home Delivery
Right now I'm not in urgent need. Some of the neighbours have been fantastic, my nephew has been bringing up meat deliveries and giveusaB from this message board has added me some items to his supermarket deliveries.
Re: Food Home Delivery
What sets Birchalls apart from the supermarkets is the quality of the meat. They do a 7 piece mixed grill pack for £4.91, which has absolutely flown out.
Right, that's enough selling from me. You'd think I worked for them...

If you pick the right time in the supermarket there is hardly anybody in. I wait until about 6.30pm for the Padiham Tesco.
Please leave the home delivery option for the most vulnerable if you can.

I can't ever say I get excited about a trip to the supermarket but it's over six weeks now since I was in one and I'm looking forward to the day I can go back into one and shop again.Quickenthetempo wrote: ↑Tue Apr 28, 2020 11:10 amIf you pick the right time in the supermarket there is hardly anybody in. Re: Food Home Delivery
I have been able to get Tesco slots for the past three weeks. However I have not been able to book more than one at a time (i.e. one for this week and one for next week). Last week a new slot did not become available until the day of my 'then current delivery'. I also try to get slots at random times throughout the day. There doesn't seem to be any particular time to log on.
I have only managed to get one Morrisons delivery in the last few weeks. A lot of items on their site were unavailable at the time.

Re: Food Home Delivery
If you head down to Tescos or Asda how long would you have to wait in Burnley before you get in the store .
Now i can guess if you are down there very early or late your chances would be better .

Re: Food Home Delivery
I head down at the quieter times and walk straight in.
I made the mistake of nipping to Tesco for a couple of brekky items at 10am on the first Sunday of panic. 45 minute queue inside the store to pay.
I had forgotten people can go earlier to get the shopping but can't pay until 10am.

Re: Food Home Delivery
I don't know why I bloody bothered. All I kept hearing was the delivery driving wining on about having to bring shopping to people's door. Trust me to get an ignorant fecker.

Re: Food Home Delivery
I been doing my weekly shop at Tescos in Burnley ( its the highlight of the week lol ) if you pick your time CT it can be fairly quiet. They do have things well organised by using a one way system and everything is very clearly indicated by signage and floor markings. Also separate entrance and exit doors.
Re: Food Home Delivery
How birchalls make a do I'll never know most of there products are more expensive than Asda and Tesco. Same with fuel cards why people use them I'll never know.

Re: Food Home Delivery
For anyone who either is or lives with someone who's a shield patient, there's some good info here on getting access to delivery slots. https://www.which.co.uk/news/2020/04/ho ... eliveries/
If you've had a shielded patient letter, then I think you're eligible, but you do need to register. I assume this is down to GDPR as you're giving the government permission to share your details with supermarkets.
If you're not on the shielded list, then just get down to the supermarket. There's quiet times of the day and stock is much better than it was a few weeks ago. I use the NHS hour at Morrisons, and I'm usually leaving the store at about 7:45 on a Saturday morning. It's still very quiet and I reckon the risk of catching anything is very low.
