Don't think Dave Kitson is going to win many popularity votes

I bet GT thought Christmas had come early, when that hat was thrown into the ring.
Hopefully, others, with more acumen, will step forward.

Wow, doesn’t strike me as the man for the job to be honest.
Heard CC recently explaining the jobs a difficult one

Has anyone taken the trouble to read Kitsons blueprint for a better PFA?
I have and it looks good

Very true, do you think the 2 ex Burnley players and a couple of other commentators are representative of those who will make the final decision?
Have you read Kitson's blueprint?

Popular he may not be but that hasn't stopped others getting big jobs before. Read his blueprint

Re: ARTICLE: Former Clarets not keen on Kitson taking PFA role
Difficult to imagine a worse PFA chairman than the one currently occupying the role.
Speaks volumes to me when Jordan Henderson had to step in and lead the Premier League players (with the help of the club captains) to arrange charitable donations. This surely was a role for the PFA.

His list of 101 questions is brilliant... if he doesn’t already have the answers to them then i’ll be very surprised.
Just got to hope that somebody else comes forward who is more palatable to players and who can shake the PFA up and get rid of Taylor.

I think you will find that it was done with the PFA who donated a big sum while Gordon Taylor personally donated half a million.Claret Toni wrote: ↑Fri May 01, 2020 6:59 pmDifficult to imagine a worse PFA chairman than the one currently occupying the role.

Re: ARTICLE: Former Clarets not keen on Kitson taking PFA role
Thanks Tony and the chairman's donation is substantial.
However, there had been political comment effectively criticising Premier League footballers for not making financial contributions. It is my belief that the PFA should have stepped in and took the lead, both in the charitable donations and also in responding to the political comment. I put this down to the chairman's lack of leadership here.
Of course my views are those of an outsider, responding to the reported news.

Re: ARTICLE: Former Clarets not keen on Kitson taking PFA role
Remember Kitson's comments after Sterling was quite explicitly racially abused by a Chelsea fan? Yes, I'm sure players want idiots like him leading their union. Kitson could ask 101 questions, write a musical, learn to sing, comprehensively answer every single last one of those questions through the medium of interpretative dance and win a Tony award for it, but he'd still be a moron unfit for the role.
Re: ARTICLE: Former Clarets not keen on Kitson taking PFA role
Wasn’t it Kitson who most people said was the Secret Footballer ?
Haven’t read his blueprint but don’t think he lacks intelligence.
Whoever gets it should get paid a hell of a lot less than Taylor has milked out of the job for 20 years.

Re: ARTICLE: Former Clarets not keen on Kitson taking PFA role
Big businesses want to unilaterally change a contract for service by reducing their payments by 30% and the union boss is criticised for standing up for them and highlighting they aren’t all on £100k a week?
He doesn’t fall in with the media campaign to shame/bully players into giving a portion of their salary to charity so they up the campaign against him!

Re: ARTICLE: Former Clarets not keen on Kitson taking PFA role
I'm no fan of Taylor but the criticism came at a time when the PFA and the players were already making plans, that criticism, singling out Premier League players, was way out of order. And remember the PFA support a lot of footballers who haven't played at the top level. I think if you speak to a lot of former players about the support they've had from the union then you might not be so critical of them.Claret Toni wrote: ↑Fri May 01, 2020 9:10 pmThanks Tony and the chairman's donation is substantial.

Re: ARTICLE: Former Clarets not keen on Kitson taking PFA role
The PFA does a lot of good work behind the scenes but it would appear Taylor's salary is a real issue and perhaps some of the decisions and press statements certainly in the last 5 years have ruffled feathers. Not really sure or TBH interested who gets the job when Taylor goes but it does need a revamp.

Re: ARTICLE: Former Clarets not keen on Kitson taking PFA role
Isnt his salary based on a % of the TV deal? The bigger the TV deal the more he gets. It has nothing to do with players subscriptions.bfcjg wrote: ↑Sat May 02, 2020 10:23 amThe PFA does a lot of good work behind the scenes but it would appear Taylor's salary is a real issue and perhaps some of the decisions and press statements certainly in the last 5 years have ruffled feathers. Remember The newspapers had to pay him for hacking his phone and they haven’t forgotten or forgiven.

Fair point but it is the perception. Clubs not paying staff ie Macvlesfield and the money he gets could be diverted to a hardship fund instead ? Perhaps imm doing him an injustice and he donates personally.Burnley Ace wrote: ↑Sat May 02, 2020 11:28 amIsnt his salary based on a % of the TV deal? The bigger the TV deal the more he gets. My criticism was of the leadership, not of the Union. That would be unworthy.ClaretTony wrote: ↑Sat May 02, 2020 9:28 am

if you want to get annoyed.
Seems to have a massive chip on his shoulder, so that fits Dave Kitson's profile

Re: ARTICLE: Former Clarets not keen on Kitson taking PFA role
You’d be surprised how popular Gordon Taylor is amongst the members. He does a lot of work that no tabloid will tell you about for players in the **** and he played a massive part in the deal for an eye watering share of the prem cash (for the union not him personally) which ****** off the powers that be. I wouldn’t believe everything you read or think you know. And he seems alright when you meet him.

If anyone questions his intellect will Kitson claim he was at Cambridge?
