Political Imagery
I came across a photo from only a few years ago which I remember as feeling quite iconic in its time.
I know some dont like it but we are undoubtedly in political times and I thought it would be interested to see what others see as political imagery that moves them
So I'll start off with one very recent one that moved me and one which is so iconic it probably transcends a almost everyone

Re: Political Imagery
Yep was Czech and it was a right wing Nazi protest march which some anti fascist protesters marched against
The image is a Czech girl scout facing down a Nazi thug which though was brilliant.
I hope the thread (if anyone cares) to be about imagery rather than the detail behind it but the story behind what happened to these people is lets say very interesting and somewhat predictable

Re: Political Imagery
I have a framed poster of that Tiananmen Square pic, I've always found it symbolic. The picture of the young Czech girl is less so because she is obviously intimidated and the thug facing her is enjoying her fear. This doesn't detract from her stance which must be applauded. If you want to seek political imagery Ghandi and Mandela must be starters along with Martin Luther K unless you are looking for Joe public?

Re: Political Imagery
I'm not sure she looks that intimidated, to me it looks like she's thinking 'this guy's a bit of a dick' and he doesn't get why she thinks that.kritichris wrote: ↑Fri May 01, 2020 11:41 pmIlThe picture of the young Czech girl is less so because she is obviously intimidated and the thug facing her is enjoying her fear.

Okay, I don't know how you can say he is 'enjoying her fear' though.
There must be a back story to that photo which I don't know about.

Re: Political Imagery
Self immolation created a lot of upsetting political imagery with tibetan monks and others in similar situations protesting against oppression. There are also some awful pics from Vietnam, the classic head shot execution and the young girl with horrific burns running down the street. it's easier to find horrific examples than good ones.

Re: Political Imagery
I don't think you can read body language from a photograph.
It's more of a single letter than a language if you do.

Sorry if this offends but this a snapshot of the most profound images I've seen in my lifetime
Re: Political Imagery
The first pic from the OP reminded me of this one.
