Games behind closed doors, would you congregate around the Turf ?
Games behind closed doors, would you congregate around the Turf ?
I was thinking about this. If it happened would you migrate to the Turf either as part of your daily exercise if we are still in a more extreme lockdown or just hang around outside hoping to hear the players shouting etc and looking for someone to give the thumbs up if we scored. If the game was broadcast live would you still try to go to the Turf and watch it on your phone with fellow Clarets 2 metres apart or would you stay at home and watch it in a safe environment knowing that a home league game with no one on isnt right ?
For me none of these is right just suspend the season even if its until early next year then finish this season then compact a mini break no fa or league cup then start again and get back to normal after say 2 years.

Re: Games behind closed doors, would you congregate around the Turf ?
Erm no.
If it was on telly I'd watch it safely at home with a beer or 2 with just the person/people I live with, not sure why any sensible people would do any different.

No.
The problem with your second point is that we could be doing this all again next Winter.

Yes. I'd stand outside the bob lord stand, or go up brunshaw rd and try and see over the new disabled Section

Re: Games behind closed doors, would you congregate around the Turf ?
Yes. I would congregate with all of my friends and family in the car park behind the Jimmy McIlroy Stand. I know that social distancing is important but the fact is that Burnley matches only occur once a week for 90 minutes at a time so how much harm can it really do.
If we play behind closed doors I would urge others to do the same. We could really be the 12th man and use this situation to our advantage.

Yes im a proper fan and if my team was playing I would stand outside and give them my vocal support. All you fannies who have been scared off by this silly virus you need to have a word with yourself and decide if you really support our club or not
Re: Games behind closed doors, would you congregate around the Turf ?
The plan seems to be for all matches to be played at 10 neutral grounds.
Looks like a short sharp World Cup scenario.

No but I'll watch on the tellybox and pipe some crowd noise in.
I saw one of the behind closed door games before lockdown, might have been Man Utd, it was awful.

My answer is NO, you’d have to be one sad c*nt to do it, like those weirdos that stand outside radio stations at 5am on a cold winter morning waiting to catch a glimpse of a spice girl heading in for their interview on the Zoe Ball show

I will go to The Park View for a couple, then go across to the Jimmy Mac Stand and bang and kick the doors shouting abuse at the Steward or passing policeman ‘cis I’ve paid for my seat and will bloody well sit in it........it’s my right.

On a serious note I would hope that at least a few fans such as CT would be allowed in to the ground to make a historic record of the matches. Also, if possible, a couple of fans from the opposition for the same reason.

Re: Games behind closed doors, would you congregate around the Turf ?
100% not - and I don't think anyone should be in there who doesn't need to be. Not under any circumstances should any supporters be allowed in. I'd be angry if some were allowed in and me not so it is just the same the other way round.
And why on God's earth should he be allowed in?

He hasn’t missed a game since 1903, I’d be devastated if they didn’t let him in, I’m hoping I can be his plus one so I can sell my ticket for a few hundred quid

Re: Games behind closed doors, would you congregate around the Turf ?
Our problem would be those who cannot abide by the simple instructions not to run on the pitch on the last game of the season. Iam sure they would think it was ok to go.

Make it clear if you turn up you’ll be issued with a life ban.
See how much they want to prove how big of a fan they are then.

Re: Games behind closed doors, would you congregate around the Turf ?
Definitely NO. It would be like being the one idiot who ignores a minutes silence, but much much more selfish.
Re: Games behind closed doors, would you congregate around the Turf ?
It takes a special kind of idiot to even consider doing something like this.
It’s probably a mute point anyway as they are saying that if they are going to finish the season behind closed doors it would be safer at neutral grounds which are not near City and town centres or close to houses.
Mentioned using grounds like Brighton, Man City and West Ham.

Re: Games behind closed doors, would you congregate around the Turf ?
Well I was planning on going up to the singing ringing tree & paragliding over the Turf for 90 minutes to avoid the mass congregations we’re expecting, so I hope the drones are piloted responsibly.
Re: Games behind closed doors, would you congregate around the Turf ?
Sensible fans and in that I would include the majority on here would abide by the rules however the numpties who invade the pitch at seasons end despite being asked not to by players the manager etc would be tempted so they could have some warped bragging rights.

Booked a few weekends at this place in case they play all the games at St Georges. Would be good to get a few clarets there and show our support for the boys

Good point though. Assume they’ll just put balls around the edges of the pitch for ball retrieval’s?

Re: Games behind closed doors, would you congregate around the Turf ?
Its surly not even a real question. Who In their right mind would congregate outside the ground?. Seriously. Who?
Re: Games behind closed doors, would you congregate around the Turf ?
I dont get that, what's the difference of just completing the season behind closed doors at the venue's they should have been played at?
Surely it could still be deemed unfair that there is an advantage to a side not having to play away at x stadium/team
Seperate point but surely teams can play Sat and Tues for 5 weeks, then still have a mini break and start a fresh season say Sept 1st. Just means a couple of extra midweek games than usual or just bag of a pointless international friendly that takes up 2 weeks if the season.
Re: Games behind closed doors, would you congregate around the Turf ?
Bit like the dark days if you believe everyone who says I went on that game there was at least 10000 on against Colchester in the dark days not the 1696 of us miserable sods who witnessed that game.
That said I was at Maine Road when we won the title even though I wasn't born ( does sperm count )?
Re: Games behind closed doors, would you congregate around the Turf ?
I don't get it either Macca, except that they must seem an empty stadium 'non hostile', so irrelevant where the match is played.
Condensing all the matches is a good idea. Perhaps this will reduce travel.
There are lots of other 'distance' and 'ppe' conditions, when physios, attend injuries on the pitch. Special magic sponge, had it been the old days!

The fact this is even a thread is one of the reasons I can’t see this happening any time soon. Also the myriad financial, logistical and ethical issues surrounding testing.
