Apart from maybe when Liverpool win the league it won't be an issue. We're in mid table without much to play for, why would anyone be that bothered to turn up outside a ground?

The Premier league are saying all the grounds will have to be outside heavily populated areas ,so that will narrow the choice down somewhat.

You know the score with some though eg " if I can go to ASDA I can go to the Turf " just glad I'm a Booths man.

Brighton would be the obvious choice and can set up the university next door to accommodate the teams.
It would also be nice for our players to get down south to a nice area rather than having to be in and around a place like Burnley all the time

If the games are played when it's being suggested, I would think certain lockdown restrictions would still be in place, including only travelling for specific purposes, that should make all directors etc unable to attend.ClaretTony wrote: ↑Sat May 02, 2020 11:11 amDifferent circumstance. Play them all at the Reebok or what ever it's called these days, that's a barren wastelandconyoviejo wrote: ↑Sat May 02, 2020 11:42 amThe Premier league are saying all the grounds will have to be outside heavily populated areas ,so that will narrow the choice down somewhat.

Dressing rooms, home comforts etc could be an advantage for home team.IanMcL wrote: ↑Sat May 02, 2020 11:03 amI don't get it either Macca, except that they must seem an empty stadium 'non hostile', so irrelevant where the match is played.
Condensing all the matches is a good idea. Perhaps this will reduce travel.
There are lots of other 'distance' and 'ppe' conditions, when physios, attend injuries on the pitch. Special magic sponge, had it been the old days!
Neutral venue is just that.
I must not grasp why playing at neutral venue makes any difference.
Seems people are trying to complicate what seems a straight forward and simple solution

At least Burnley1989 realised I was being facetious, whilst simultaneously drawing peoples attention of one unfortunate consequence (for Dave only) of playing behind closed doors.Burnley1989 wrote: ↑Sat May 02, 2020 9:11 amHe hasn’t missed a game since 1903, I’d be devastated if they didn’t let him in, I’m hoping I can be his plus one so I can sell my ticket for a few hundred quid
Re: Games behind closed doors, would you congregate around the Turf ?
Far from simple in my view
Re: Games behind closed doors, would you congregate around the Turf ?
The big thing I can see is dressing rooms. Turf Moor has a very small dressing room with no windows. Other places have much more room to spread out and better fresh air systems.
It might mean fewer cameramen and TV prodicers if they have fewer places to set up. If they play say two matches a day for a week at one venue, assuming the pitch will stand it, then they cover 14 games while having to set everything up only once. And assuming they are going to treat hawkeye and VAR as absolute essentials (which IMO they could well do without), that could be quite a lot of manpower.

Good point about VAR... Would that rule out St George's Park as a venue, or any none premier league grounds?dsr wrote: ↑Sat May 02, 2020 4:27 pmThe big thing I can see is dressing rooms. The update is that a key ingredient for a neutral stadium is that it is not near lots of houses.
The top 8 are these:
Most likely neutral venues for Premier League games
Brighton – Amex Stadium
Southampton – St Mary’s Stadium
West Ham – London Stadium
Arsenal – Emirates
Leicester – King Power Stadium
Aston Villa – Villa Park
Manchester United – Old Trafford
Manchester City – Etihad
Anfield ruled out owing to the housing.
Not sure how these are 'neutral'!!!!

Burnley v Chelsea at villa Park is neutral.
Re: Games behind closed doors, would you congregate around the Turf ?
Haven't they said that no-one will play at their home stadium? So even if the Amex is used, it won't be Brighton playing there whether home or away?

Does anyone know why neutral venues is necessary? I don’t understand this “near housing” stuff? Can Covid now penetrate brick walls?
Re: Games behind closed doors, would you congregate around the Turf ?
You are correct. No team will play at their home stadium.

R4 news this morning (8 a.m.) said report in one of the papers that Premier League are looking at playing in Perth, Australia. "Strewth" apparently the head line. No, I guess Australia is neutral enough. Maybe Melbourne Clarets could get there. It's certainly putting a new meaning on "social distancing."

It’s a long way from Melbourne to Perth.

Only morons would consider it.
Even Scousers, knowing that their Season would be dumped if they did turn up, wouldn't think about it.
