Don’t really get the connection between the Covid crisis and this. If other another club wants him and he wants to go, it will happen, regardless of our financial circumstances. So far it hasn’t, but we can’t really forcibly “sell” him if we find ourselves in a tight spot.

The only thing that would worry me is that we have a release clause of only £10m on our most valuable asset, but then I guess that’s what he negotiated (if there’s any truth in it at all).

The reality is that the majority of clubs will be financially hamstrung at the end of the season, even Ed Woodward said United won’t be spending the same money. Nixon to look relevant at this current time in my opinion is insinuating that Dyche will move if we hold him back financially, by not renewing contracts or signing new players but I can’t see Villa or Palace being in a better position than us.

Exactly, it’s just Nixon trying to appear relevant at the current time to justify his income and he does it by throwing so much of the proverbial at the wall, hoping some sticks and then claiming he is the man in the know.

There's no actual football to report so the media have to fill their sports pages with something they think might help to sell newspapers, regardless of whether there is any truth in the stories or not.

So he re-hashes something which has already been printed previously. Some people do believe his every word you know, however most of them will be back at school shortly so won't have any more time to read newspapers.

I’d take player sales over losing Sean, albeit that would likely lead to the same outcome.

So vital to have a solid base and management team. Seems a committed chap to me, and hopefully will take note of the disaster that is David Moyes’ career after he left Everton.

After the sheep teeth debacle, no amount of money should tempt our board to release him, unless there is a clause in his contract that dictates he must be informed.

Villa will pot Smith at the end of the season i reckon and have shown they have deep pockets, FFP may be an important factor in restricting their ambition.

He would be silly to leave Burnley for any club. Apart from the short term financial aspect, he would be on his @rse in no time at all. The football landscape is definitely going to look a whole lot different in the coming years and his circa 4 million pounds a year salary at Burnley is an excellent remuneration. No big established Premier League clubs would be interested in him, only clubs like Villa, Palace et.al. Having said that if he was to leave, so be it. We would adjust.
