When was the last time our Turf Moor music ..
Has there ever been a time in the past, when our Turf Moor music before the match was No.1 in the charts ?
It will eventually be great to hear "Times like these" blasting out at the Turf once again and the lyrics will be even more meaningful !!

In the first half of the 94/95 season we used to come out to Pato Banton's 'Baby Come Back' which I think got to #1 that year

Tina Turner - The Best, must have been around 94/95
Surely that was number 1 at some point although it was realised a few years earlier

I thought the same but checked it and it wasn't UK number one.Burnley1989 wrote: ↑Sun May 03, 2020 3:07 pmTina Turner - The Best, must have been around 94/95

Claret Tony might know - have we always played music before the start of games since maybe the 1960's and if not when did we start and what was the first music played ??

I was working on Saturday listening to Radio X
Times Like These (the original) came on and I got all nostalgic at what could have been

Since it's been number one, I have read the lyrics and found them to be very much in tune with the times like these we are going through. I watched a clip of the Reading festival with Dave Grohl singing this and telling the story of how important the time was when they first played Reading - great intro to the song and the reception from the festival crowd was immense.

Jump by Van Halen is the earliest that springs to mind think late 80's. Charted highly but not a number 1.

Anyone else think we should bring the 'Goal' music back? I really miss it.

Jack Butterfield introduced Radio Turf Moor or whatever he called it in the late 1960s but it was just a bit of music being played before the game. Former poster lotty/Cumbrianclaret did it for a few years in the 1980s.chorleyhere wrote: ↑Mon May 04, 2020 12:33 amClaret Tony might know - have we always played music before the start of games since maybe the 1960's and if not when did we start and what was the first music played ??
But entrance music - not sure when that first started but I think it might have been with The Best around the time Jimmy Mullen was manager. I do know Chris Waddle is probably the only manager to introduce his own with Jump, because they'd had it at Marseille when he was there.

I'm sure I remember the team running out to "WHEELS" Which must have been in '61.

We used to play Tom Hark to run out to around 1988/89 season. It only changed when we changed it to Simply The Beat as far as I remember. We seemed to have it for ages.ClaretTony wrote: ↑Mon May 04, 2020 10:31 amBut entrance music - not sure when that first started but I think it might have been with The Best around the time Jimmy Mullen was manager. Then we latterly had it for that dreaded goal music.

I can remember the Peters & Lee song 'Welcome Home' being played in the 70's. I think it was a UK No.1. The lyrics will be appropriate when we finally get to attend matches again:
Welcome home, welcome
Come on in, and close the door
You've been gone, too long
Welcome, you're home once more
